You might of already had your answer but ill put down my experience.

Evo 7 - Running RPF1 18x9 +38

Required 25mm spacer to clear brakes at the front. Also required me to cut out a decent section of the sideskirt (the very inside part of the sideskirt, as the wheel would hit on full lock)

Was running 245/40 tyres, and it scrubbed.

Installed EvoDave fender mod kit, after that no scrubbing.

I went with the +38 with 18 mm spacers. Tire Rack said they would fit w/o spacers, lol. Shame on me. But, I like the look. They are dished nicely. I chose to run a 35 series tire. Yes, it f's up the speedo and logs more miles than actual. HOWEVER, they are 3 lbs lighter per tire! That is a huge reduction in rotating mass. It is so much of a difference that you can feel it. Which is partly due to the fact that the smaller diameter also creates a reduction in final gearing. (They're about 3/4" shorter)

255/35/18

And, yes, I know I need coilovers. It's in 4x4 mode right now.

245 width isn't ideal, but those of us who AutoX in STU are limited to 245 width. Dunlop actually specs most of the 245 width Z1 Star Specs (and even some of the 235 widths) for use on up to 9.5" wheels, so it's not too far out of line.

As a bonus, the wider wheel results in a slightly wider contact patch. I'm not talking about 'hellaflush' territory, but just using the extreme end of the approved wheel size for a given tire. 245 on 9.5" is usually fine. If you're not limited by a ruleset though, I'd definitely step up to 255.

Should have gone with +18 for an Evo X. No spacers needed for +18.

I noticed this last summer finally seeing a bunch of STU evos, theyre all on 9 or 9.5" wheels with RS3 or StarSpecs. According to Tire Rack if you're in the mid range of the suggested wheels size a change in 0.5" of wheel width will give you a tread width change of 0.2". Thats their rule of thumb and as always there's exceptions but it seems to be the way to go for that class.

I know ppl say u need a 20mm to clear the +38 but what the exact size spacer required? I've heard ppl have gotten custom 17mm spacers and work but haven't seen them in person

I run a 17x9.5+38 and they have the aggressive look. The narrower or higher offset RPFs do not (maybe the 9" does?) I run a 20mm spacer up front and rolled the rear fenders, just in case. No issues with a 255 or 265 tire. I've been tracking my cars for years with spacers. I use the bolt-on type. I wouldn't trust the slip-on ones without extended studs. Even still, I prefer the bolt-ons.
I'm on the mobile app, so can't read which sub forum this is...But I assume, judging by the replies, that we both have a CT9A.

Fwiw and a point of reference, a +15 fits the front without a spacer. A +30, 9" wheel fits the rear, as does a +38, 9.5". I was able to barely fit a +27, 9.5" wheel but I had to roll and pull the crap out of my fenders. Caused a crease. LOL. Never again.
Looked awesome, though.

I did all of those with a 255 tire.

Just know, that a +15 wheel is just a show wheel on an EVO. No good way to make that fit on a stock body EVO. Stick w/the proven RPF1 fitments

Not worth it for 3mm, IMO. You can't see a 3mm difference.

Yup I have a ct9a as well. Was thinking of doing the 17x9 +15 infront and +30 in rear. Do you think with a 255 tire any fender rolling need to be done? On lowering springs at the moment.. Btw your Evo looks clean man! And thanks for the reply!
