HSD is made by HD Systems in Korea.

A Coilover that has carved a pretty good name for itself in European Circles. Many Years ago Drift Works became a European Distributor for HSD coilovers with great success. Many Previous Gen EVO owners in the UK and in Australia have used the kit with positive reviews. Fast forward to today, HSD has expanded to North America. So if the name doesnt seem familure, see what other EVO owners on Lancer Register forum have to say.

HSD's number one feature would be its rugged / durable build quality. Its something that you will see from just about every owner of the kit. It lasts, and lasts and lasts. lol you get the point. Its a mid range kit that will offer multiple levels of adjustment for an affordable cost.

Thats HSD in a nutshell

my .02 after going through a similar debate, and wanting a quality coilover, for both national level autoX, as well as a daily driver... I ended up with USED Ohlins, no leaking, needing no work... $800, w/ works camber plates and rear pillow ball mounts. Deals are out there, I have seen PSS9s under $1000 quite a bit as well. I was open to either Ohlins, or PSS9s, and took the first I could get my hands on. I personally would suggest steering clear of KW.

The other thought in my mind is unless they went up in price, the 4100 ASTs from GTWorx were sub $2000, and that is custom valved and custom sprung. That would allow you to get into top quality shocks brand new, then just look for a used set of camber plates for cheap, or talk to Rick Jung (Cirodesign) and he can set you up with a set of his that actually allow caster and camber adjustment, for a quite reasonable price.

From my experience with both evo owners, as well as some of the other 29 cars I have had since turning 16... is I would suggest sticking with the known quality shocks, and quality people who recommend them. I know you post alot about motorsports in these forums it seems... so take it from those who are top drivers, and self-mechanics, as well as setup-artists for lack of a better term. Be weary of those who are sponsored to pitch a company, or any self-serving statement from a company. (GTWorx I would exclude in that bunch, for the reasons of their time and dedication to the Evo & STi community, as well as you will notice MANY who will echo their recommendations)

Bilsteins are generally pretty good at lasting a long time without needing rebuilds, AFAIK.

And they're cheap to rebuild when you need to.

I went with a set of Stance XR's with swift springs 10k / 12k. They are single way adjustable but with 60mm OD casings. Should be a little rough as a DD but manageable. Price is right on point with your budget. They have adjustments for Camber but not caster. I plan on racing with them and some moderate street driving. As mentioned before, what is nice about them is that if you need them rebuilt or re-valved it is easy to do. It should be a nice addition to the STANCE line up. Touge Factory races with STANCE coils and Ive seen them run on a lot of other platforms.

For what you looking for the XR's might be a great option

I PM'd you the detailed info on your options for order HSD. But in a nutshell you easiest option is www.rickchong.com
Rick is a trust source for current generation EVO X and Lancer body styling mods. But he has not committed to designing new lip kits for older EVO's and now getting into the performance side of things.

Hands down based on the feedback of so many UK EVO owners. I have yet to find anyone to say anything negative about them. Second point., The just dont seem to fail. The soak up a lot of abuse and keep going which tends to stand out. I would claim they are invulnerable, but I am still looking for reviews out there for the past 4 years that show people dealing with failures... still cant find very many. I got a chance to prototype test a few new applications over here in North American, and to be honest. For the money. Great value.

I would keep what you have now and save enough to get a set of ohlins. Your current combo on street tires will be just as competitive as middle of the road coilover.
