For the type of racing I am doing, autocross and HPDE track days, I want to have a sidewall that is pretty stiff. Crowning is detrimental to sidewall stiffness. It also, decreases initial turn in and makes your steering less responsive.

There are also issues with fitment with tires that size. You must do your research when fitting sizes larger than a 255. Low offsets will help you the most, but then you must roll your fenders or get wider fenders. 255 is a very solid setup that is tried and true.

It seems like from your other threads that you are trying to do alot with your car. I highly suggest going with an easier to maintain and fit setup for your car and just concentrate on your driving. Ultimately, that will give you the biggest gains at the track
appreciate the reply. i'm basically at a point where I'm buying a seperate set of wheels for the track. I don't know why I'm feeling like i need to make the right choice first time around and leave myself room to grow, because at the end of the day the wheels are actually cheaper than the tires I'm looking at in most cases. I'm thinking though maybe not optimal for handling, the extra grip is going to pay dividends due to my increased power levels since i last "tracked" the car, it has nearly doubled and i'm still on 93octane. Also, i think i have probably adapted to the reduced feel since i have been on teh 255's on stock wheels for a while now, definitely crowned, i was somewhat dissapointed at first, then got used to it and don't mind it now.

100% with you on teh driver mod. I havent done too many autox's, and need to learn to launch for drag racing. Just looking to optimize my setup, so the only limitation i can blame is the driver, and not that the guy who ran faster than me had 285's, and i was stuck with 255's, or something like that.

thanks man.

I am unsure of their track worthiness but DRAG wheels makes some 17x9s

17x9 +17, +28, or +38

the DR31 for example is only $460 for the whole set from this place or you can also get them from discount tire for slightly more

21.5 lbs though, I'd consider another rim up to 200 each if it were under 20

Granted that it dosnt sacrifice structure

I do miss my beloved fn01r-c

And 17x9 fn01rc are 20lbs each at 9", add 1/2 of material. Team dynamics are in the 20lb club also in 9"

I did just have tsw nurburgrings which were light , but hated 18s.

The 5zigens were lighter regardless. I'd lose a half inch for a lb and a half any day. Lol

Still not too shabby though ..

Ok not exactly confident in the konig decision. I feel cost may have some representation of strength. Why are they 162 ea? They're going to be **** pounded in potholes of watertown ny driven 140 miles round trip on rough highway per event(autocross). Maybe I should get a little more wheel? Under 1000 is nice, but what wheels are under a g and very strong?

Team dynamics 1.2 seems like the first one to pop in my head

It looks like those are 21.6 lbs. How about enkei pf01ss in 17x9? Those are 19.2 lbs each.
