Advice on a good daily driver tire ( with performance in mind)
So far on the 2 evos that i have owned, I have had the stock advans, loved them!!! and now on my second evo, falken ze 912 they came on the car when I purchased it. They were not bad, but not great either.
I ran something over a few weeks back, i think it was a piece of a broom handle, and it popped my rear tire
I did some quick research, read some reviews and purchased a set of dunlop direzza dz101. I can not stand these tires!!!! I now feel like im driving my F-550 work truck!!!!
They sway and flex so much!!! So Im now on the hunt for something better. My car is a daily driver, but I also do some spirited driving(no track days)
I would like something close to the same price range as the dunlops but aslo something that will last longer than the stock advans.. I want the side walls to be stiff, i dont want my car to feel like its a Damn Truck... road noise is not a problem nor is ride comfort...... I drive an Evo not a camery LOL!!
any help would be appreciated!! thanks!!

What size wheels are you running? I'm sure you will get a different answer from just about everyone, but if I daily drove my EVO, i would only run Yokohama a046's(stock) or ad08's. I myself run 285/30/18 yoko a048's.

The Evo has a great engine but where it really shines is the handling. I want that even if it is a DD and I'm not willing throw it away with a set of less than spectacular tires. On the other hand, as you say, the best tires are expensive.
Well, I got a set of great winter tires from, of all places, Walmart. They were on closeout at half price. I got a set of RE01R's from the Tire Rack when they were closed out, also at half price. So, you gotta shop.

i just got a set of hankook rs3's. they are amazing. the grip level is heads above other street tires i've driven. the sidewall is a little soft so you'll need to run a higher pressure (45ish). also i've only had them a week so i cant speak to the longevity but at the grip level they offer i dont really care if they only last 8000 miles.

Bang for the buck the Ventus V12s are a great tire, especially considering if you do mostly daily driving with a few autox/spirited driving events you'll get two summers out of them. They're responsive, predictable, and on the flip side are great in the wet.
I held off a couple better prepared Evos on *Specs in BSP at the last autox on these, granted driver mod played a decent role there.
