Fortune Auto 500 Series owners chime in! Collars not locking
Hi guys,
I've been on my FA 500 Series coils for quite a while now. I love them but my one issue with them is that the collars on my front two coils never stay locked. It's the two locking ones that the spring sit on. I've tightened them really tight by hand, then hammered it tight with the spanner wrench, and then fortune auto recommended hammering it tight with a flathead. It still won't stay locked, after a couple weeks they loosen enough that the spring is able to be move up and down a 1/4 inch when the car is jacked up. Do you guys have any similar issues or suggestions?
Thanks,
Brendan

Yeah we install alot of these coilovers with no issues
It is imperative that you make sure the locking rings are really tight!
I know fortune recommends the flathead/hammer method but we use the spanner wrenches and tighten them very tight!
They never come loose once you put some weight into it

Yeah since I've installed them they have been doing this. I get a noise when I turn at really low speeds. Pretty much just sounds like the springs unloading.
I've hammered them pretty friggin tight and they always seem to come off. Terry at FA is going to send over a new set of locking rings so I'll see what that does.

i've never had a problem with mine. really peculiar that it's constantly the front two. leads me to believe it may be something else in your set up.
and kudos to terry, FA has the best customer service ever!

Are you guys all preloading your suspension? I've preloaded mine before and they felt like ****...

i never preload my springs if its a full tap design. from experience, springs DO NOT like to be preloaded. i adjusted mine to the point where there is no movement, but i am still able to spin the spring freely.
im not 100% positive so someone can chime in, but could the problem be binding?

had mine for a few months...they moved a bit initiatially but, then Locked them down good the second time...said it was expected and I occasionally take a look/feel and they are solid as of now.
p.s. definitely use the spanner wrench to a certain degree and the screw driver (flathead)
