Brake pedal travel ?

Hi all,

I put a set of EBC Reds along with new stoptech blank rotors on recently.
I cannot for the life of me get the pedal to engage fully until around 1 1/2 inch or so of travel.
I bled them countless times along with clutch to no avail.

1. What is the spec supposed to be ?

2. Could it be the pads? They brake fine, it's just that I'd like them to engage closer to top.

Stumped, Should I try different pads?

thanks

How did you bleed them? Could still be air pockets in there.

Is it always at 1 1/2 inch all the time? Or sometimes more so or less? Is it mushy? Or firm but less travel?

I can pump it a few times to get it higher, then fades back down to 1 1/2.
I'm thinking maybe bad master cylinder.
I've bled them to death, motive, two people... Felt right for a day or so and then became mush

I did several stops on some dirt to activate abs. It self bleeds, still ng.

Gonna slap on a new master cylinder and see if that helps.
Worst case scenario, I have a new master cylinder and one variable eliminated.

Did you use the correct bleed order? Sounds like air in line.

If the pads needed bedding the pedal wouldn't go up after pumping it.

Park your car on a clean piece of cement. Turn the engine on, step on the brakes pretty hard for a good minute or so, like 20% more than a normal stop. Does the pedal keep going down? Does it go straight to the floor right away? Check around the car for brake fluid on the ground (make sure you look on the ground first so you don't get your spots confused with any other crap). Is there any fluid on your rotors or around the master cylinder?
