Extreme performance summer tire help
I've searched for and browsed a good number of threads on here, and it seems as if people really tend to favor the Hankook R-S3s a lot, so I've been looking at picking up a set. These will go on a IX MR with Swift springs and stock Bilsteins, so not a real heavily modded setup. Will probably have the car aligned with a decent setup for good handling on the street.
Anyhow, my local tire shop said they are on backorder with no ETA, so it could be over a month from what they're telling me. On tirerack's site it says they have some that could be in by 5/9, but my tire store said they tried and they're out too, so I'm not sure if that will work. Does anyone know of anywhere that could ship them to me? Zip 97223.
From the research I've done, it sounds like the Dunlop star specs are also a good summer performance tire. I'm really looking for something with maximum dry grip, and don't care all that much about tread life or wet traction.
Does anyone know where the R-S3s may be readily available, OR have a good alternative to this option? Any input or other suggestions is much appreciated. Thanks!

They just moved the eta on R-S3's back to end of May. Hankook operates a bit differently compared to other tire companies when orders are placed (by vendors). Personally, I wouldn't wait for them to come off backorder. Dunlop Z1's would be my choice.

Yeah that sounds like a good choice...can't wait to see how they do! Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated...

Smike, quick question... for me where i live, theres a $200 difference between the RS3's and Z1's.
Is there a distinct difference between the 2? Im just trying to justify

From: somewhere testing various tires, brakes, and suspensions.
RS3s have less tread depth (8/32nds). Which is good for AX and track use; terrible for any hopes of rain channels. When the Z1* have (10/32nds) and retain more wet service once worn down.
And RS3s never are in stock. That's a ding for me too. What happens when you need to get 2 new tires and you cannot order any? Z1* do not have that issue.

Toyo R1R http:/www.nsearch.com/?k=Toyo+Tires See Neal @ Tire Rack has best prices. Extreme performance summer and extremely comfortable ride on the street. They cancelled 1st autox this year because of weather, cant compare yet to other summer tires.
