Declassified Tire Testing Trip. The New BFGoodrich g-Force Rival

Okay everyone I'm back from testing the newest extreme performance summer tire from BFGoodrich, the g-Force Rival. I'm working on a full review of them as you read this. I have lots of pics and info from the event to share so I'll try to have some more official info by weeks end. The tire went live on our site this morning so check the link for further pics and some additional info. I was very impressed in not only handling, but how it wore considering the abuse we were putting it through. Feel free to ask any questions you have.

Tests we ran:

Subaru - short auto-x
BMW E46 M3 - long auto-x
Mazda Miata - skidpad
Ford Mustang race prepped - road course

Sizes are as follows:

205/50R15
225/45R15
225/50R16
215/45R17
225/45R17
245/40R17
255/40R17
245/40R18
275/35R18
295/35R18
315/30R18
335/30R18
265/35R20
285/35R20
315/35R20

4-rib design shown below

This series of pics is from our Subaru STi auto-x. From left to right we have Toyo R1R, Hankook RS3, and the new BFG Rival. My group was the second group to run the cars before lunch. The Toyo and Hankook had 48 runs on them at that point in the day. However, the BFG was ran an additional lap at the end for a total of 72 total runs before lunch. Check out the difference in wear!

Nice pics! The Hankook didn't do bad really. However, the Rival held up a bit better overall by days end. We showed these things no mercy.

^This.

Considering the cost, the RE11's and AD08's should have been invited as well. Bringing the R1R's and 615k's is pretty disappointing. Shame on you BFG.

Couldn't get them in stock by the time the event kicked off. However, we will do that comparison in the spring. UTQG is 200.

The rivals will be a 200 TW.

with the above pics, keep in mind the BFG's only start at 7/32 tread unlike the RS3's that start at 9/32.

Happy as a clam with my Rs-3's. Won't be using anything else...but it's nice to see BFG making the attempt.

The size determines the tread design in this case. 265mm and higher will have the four rib design, all narrower options three rib design.

3 rib

4 rib
