I just got a silicone mold kit and started playing around with making molds for different things and then casting in a thermal plastic. These wheel center caps I made are coated in an adhesive plastic primer, wheel silver, and then wheel clear all from duplicolor. What do you guys think? I think they look pretty good! I've already made some for an eagle talon, 1g eclipse, 2g eclipse, and working on making some "eagle" one's to fit in my evo 8 wheels on my talon.

The top left is the 2g Eagle talon, right below it is the EVO sized Eagle talon, top middle 2g eclipse, bottom middle evo 8, 1g eclipse all the way to the left.

Tons of possibilities! These are cool. Some could say EVO, Or VIII, or IX. I think the Roman numerals would be sweet. You should take orders n make a little money for yourself

Yeah I might get around to doing that sometime but for now just playing around.

Making an initial cap to copy in the mold takes some time. It's alot more work than what it sounds but hey cars are a labor of love.

I tell you what the thermal plastic heats up pretty good and when they say at initial mixing you have 2 minutes work time they do mean you only have 2 minutes work time and you end up with a hot plastic turd. I had some caps end up about 3 times as thick because it set up before I could get the mold closed up.

I had some other ideas of stuff to make as well. Maybe the ring that goes on the steering wheel around the airbag. Seems like they get lost or broken considering how many steering wheels are up for sale without those on ebay and such. Oh and the small access panel on the side of the steering wheel always seems to be missing as well.

I have been looking at some of the small plastic filler plugs on interior pieces as well that get lost or crunched so easily when taking interiors out. I may make a few to try out on my talon and see how well they hold up to being removed and reinstalled a bunch of times.


Could use the center caps as tool box decorations as well with some double stick tape on the back of them and then if you ever break or loose one on your wheels the decoration turns back into a center cap. Dual purpose! LOL

Definitely interested in a set of 2g eclipse ones for my winter beater since mine got destroyed by town fair tire when they balanced my rims. If you decide to make some to sell I'm down!
