Forgive me for being slow, I was looking at these wheels and didn't see a +29 option. THey only show 22, 35 and 44. Did they discontinue that size?

Looks correct, yes.

I currently autocross on a 275/40/17 V710 on a 9" wide 38 or 36 offset wheel (5mm spacer up front). I had to roll the rear but I currently do not have any issues. They bludge a little but I don't think its excessive.

Thanks again for all the help! To answer your question the best I can, (my logbook for the car is at home and I am at work) the front camber is at -2.25 deg, rear camber is -1.5 deg, toe is zero all around and caster was not checked as I don't believe there is any way to make caster changes on a stockish suspension. I have no desires to dial in a lot more camber just to fit wider meats. I may bring in a little more but I am undecided. Tire fitment will not dictate suspension geometry, as I feel that is working backwards.

My main goal with going to a wider tire is to increase lateral grip. I really don't have any problems with grip while moving forward, but I would like more grip throughout a corner. I know that turn in will be reduced, but I think that this might end up being trumped by the increased speed that can be carried through the corner. Sidewall pinching still does concern me though. I dunno. I might just try it and see what I can do to make them fit. If it doesn't work maybe I can send them back to Neal with some beer for a trade??

Thanks again for all the help!!!

Just off the numbers, the 275/40/17 only picks up 0.4" of thread width (10.3" vs. 10.7") over the 255/40/17. I imaigne it is even slightly less then that due to the 275 being measured on a 9.5" wheel.

However it picks up 0.7" in height (24.8" vs. 25.5"). If you constantly find yourself on the limiter then maybe this 3% bump will be a good thing. Other wise though, you are giving up some mechanical advantage on gearing.

The 255s run wide and square in most performance tires though as many classes cap tire size to 255. Lots of companies are basically cheating the numbers on the 255s. I've seen pictures of some 255s next to 285s and there was very little width difference.

I'm not 100% sure wider is always better either. I had trouble getting enough heat in the 275s on my car. They were NT01s though and I didn't have a co-driver. I had to deliberately over cook a couple corners at the start just to get the tires hot enough to do anything on the rest of the coarse.

"Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star specs" A 265/40R17 would be the correct size as far as matching the factory tire diameter. I'd put them on a 9.5" rim. I have this brand tire in a 265/35R18 on Prodrive GC-05's 18 x 9.5" +27 with rolled rears and they're perfect. BTW...the 265/40R17's I mentioned above are on closeout on the TireRack $198.00 each...check it out...

I completely agree with you on both ends I'm glad we are on the same page. Give em a shot and see what it does for you. Just make sure to perform the necessary fender massaging if necessary so they dont cut up your new rubber.

Yeah great tires however who wants a ZI now when the new ZII's are out? The only dilemma with the new star specs is the lack of wide options for a 17"

I have 5Zigen FN10R-C 17x9 and have run Hoosier A7 275/35/17, Hankook C71 275/40/17, and BFG R1 275/40/17 without issue.
