Angry Aftermarket rotors thicker than stock!

I purchased a set of Stop-Tech slotted brake rotors to be fitted with the stock Brembo calipers. The problem is that the new rotors are considerably thicker than stock thickness, 32mm vs 29.8mm (stock) the rotors are rubbing against the inside of the calipers! My only option seem to machine the rotors shaving some thickness off & probably erasing the slots! kind of defies the purpose of purchasing brand new rotors! Any ideas, suggestions

Are you positive that the rotors are rubbing against the calipers and not the pads? My only thought is that the pistons are further out right now and are causing clearance issues.

Either that or they gave you the wrong rotors. FWIW Stoptech is owned by Centric and the Stoptech Powerslots which I think you have start their life as ordinary Centric rotors so there really shouldnt be any issues with them as countless people run those with no issues whatsoever.

according to the FSM 35A -36, stock rotor thickness is fronts 32mm, and rears 22mm. I think you may just have to push in the caliper pistons in. At 29.8mm you may just have worn down the rotors so your pads are pushed out more.

edit. I see in your sig you drive an jdm evo VI, these numbers are for an evo 8. you may have received evo 8 rotors for your evo VI. Im not sure what the specs are for that car.

^That was my thought as well in regards to the pistons needing to be pushed in. But now that you mention it, him having a VI may be the issue but I cant comment of the difference in rotors between a VI and an VIII...

You're right the stock rotors are the same Evo 5-9 @ 32mm. I found the number 29.8 engraved on the stock rotors & I thought it's the stock thickness. After a little research I found that 29.8 engraved on the rotor by the factory is the minimum thickness recommended before replacing the rotors.
Anyway, I fixed the issue & I installed the new aftermarket rotors.
Thanks for the feedback.
