They made a compound change that warms up faster in the dry and also works better in the wet vs. the previous generation. Same construction and tread pattern though.

Just received a set of the Dunlop Direzza ZII from the Rack. Can I return them for a set of the V2's?

Definitely R-S3. Also look into BFG Rival, RE-11A (My personal favorite), Michelin PSS (My cheap friend's personal favorite), Yokohama AD08R, Dunlop Direzza ZII
