RacingBrake Calipers and Rear Rotors

After having just purchased RB front rotors and 970 pads for the front, I decided to replace my rear RB rotors which have been on my Evo for the last 7 track seasons! Also, I decide to upgrade my calipers to RB reconditioned Brembos with include stainless steel and silicone bits. Below is a photo documentation of my install which was inspired by the build quality of the parts. Enjoy!

The rear rotors (black):

Calipers for all 4 corners (red):

Rear rotor and caliper condition (slots are literally gone on one side, barely there on the other):

When replacing the rear rotors, you must cut the edge off the plate behind the parking brake drum:

After cutting it, grind it so the surface is smooth:

Now the rotor will sit flush:

Now we’re ready to test fit… Perfect. Install pads, and do the same on side 2.

Now for the fronts… Off with the old, on with the new…

Then drive!

When it’s time to swap your pads, don’t forget to use RB’s Caliper Pad Pin Punch which helps protect your paint and your fingers.

Thanks for posting! The 2 pc rotors look sick!

I just installed RB front and rear single pc rotors with XT910 pads. I was wondering how many pads you have gone thru on those rears in 7 seasons? All RB pads?

You're using a light duty/street pad which I don't think would last me 1 day on track. I run f: XT970/r: XT960 and get about 15d ave from the front and about double that for the rear. Hawk DTC60's I was at about 14/28 so they were similar except the RB's gave me an extra day or two which I believe is due to how the pad is glued to the backing plate, in which RB has some new technology and Hawk uses older technology. The RB's have less corrosive dust which is a big deal to me, and the RB's were designed to work with the rotors, so having a complete RB pad/rotor package, I knew I'd have support if needed. As far as performance, they are very close to a DTC60 setup.
I've been using RB rotors for years, but between the new rotor design and their updated pads which are finally heavy track duty worthy, I thought an endorsement of their products was due.
Also, the 970/960 combo does NOT make much noise on the street!

Yeah, I still DD my evo The 910's were what they recommended, and I was worried about the 970/960's having issues when cold. Glad to know they don't make much noise, and didn't eat the rotors up too fast.

Loving them so far. Hope to take it to the track soon!

Thanks!

I shared my Evo a couple weeks at Pocono SE which is about as tough as it gets on brakes if you're pushing it hard. Even with double duty, the pedal maintained firm with no ducts on a 90 degree day. I was pleasantly surprised with both the performance and the feel given the abuse we put the car through.

I've been racing/TT'ing/Instructing with my Evo since '05 at stock power, 330whp, 360whp, 400whp, 430whp depending on class and I had not found the combination to prevent fade or a soft pedal until now using semi metallic pads. This combination of the stainless steel and silicone components, replacing the aluminum and rubber bits, plus Castrol SRF seems to have solved the issue. When my brakes start to degrade, I lose a little confidence and in turn drive slower so now I should be able to drive faster, longer.
