Rear toe arm question

So I'm having some trouble removing my toe arm to install an adjustable one. My problem is how do you remove the part closest to the hub? Is it on a stud or does the bolt simply pop out?

It's a normal tapered ball joint. If you don't care about the boot anymore you can use a pickle fork to remove it. Otherwise you're stuck with a hammer or a ball joint separator.

Im not sure what part you are planning on replacing it with but I'd try and salvage the boot if possible.

See if you can get a ball joint separator in there. Is there a Harbor Frieght near you? If not buy yourself a nut that fits on there and get out your hammer and start hitting it. The nut will salvage the treads and itll eventually pop out.

Alright so that bolt does slide out then? Will boot then need to be removed to install with new toe arm or is it not necessary with adjustable toe arm?

Go rent a pitman arm puller from your nearest O'reilly or Autozone etc. just did mine yesterday and this tool helps remove the arm w/o damaging the boots on the oem ball joints. They have two sizes. Get the smaller one. O'reilly does free rentals for 48hrs.

I put the nut over the balljoint and whacked it with a sledge hammer... in the process screwed up 3 threads, fixed threads and put the arm back in with the bump steer kit. If I had to do it again.. grab a jack and a block of wood, jack the wood onto the balljoint and pop it out that way. Or the smart way which is grabbing a balljoint remover.

I was going at it this same way at first, but did not want to risk damage to the ball joint threads so opted to just drive down the street to get the tool.

I bought this and popped out all 3 control arms in the rear knuckle on both sides. As long as you put the nut back on without going all the way down, it will pop and you can take it out. Using this with an impact makes your world much easier. I think it took me 10 min to remove the knuckle. No need to rent when these things are cheap.

If you need a video on how it works.
