ZII vs AD08

I've been stressing over tires for the past 3 days. I really want a nice set of tires for the street. Right now I have Fuzion HRi's and they are just not holding the power I'm making now. Doing 3rd gear pulls is dangerous on an inferior tire. I never thought I'd say this but traction is becoming an issue now. I don't track the car so I don't need to rip a 1.4 60' lol. After countless hours of reading and talking to friends it comes down to 2. The Dunlop ZII or Advan AD08. The car is my DD and I'm broke so decent mileage and price is a must. I'm leaning towards the ZII for those reasons.

These are either going on the stock Enkeis or RPF1 17x9 wheels.

Any guidance would be greatly beneficial. Thanks.

I think you already made your choice! For the money you won't find a tire that will out grip(Corners and straight line) the ZII AND last as long. Just wait until 4th of July and maybe a sale might come along.

That was on my list but I omitted it for reasons I forgot lol.

Screw it, ZII or R-S3. AD08 is off the list.

Friend had the AD08 and couldn't stand the ride due to the really stiff sidewalls. He switched to Michelins Pilot Sport II and it is much better

Also consider Nitto NT-05. Great grip and decent in the rain. Price will be less than the ZII. Also I got them with free shipping to Hawaii from Amazon.com. I've heard the Hankook RS3 are scary in the rain, but I've never driven on them.

One thing to consider about tread life is where your starting at. ZII = 9/32", R-S3 = 8.8/32", and NT-05 = 7.2/32", these are numbers from the manufactur's websites. Just for reference the wear bars on a tire are at 2/32". It seems like the R-S3 is the tire to get, unless you can find the NT-05 for close to $100 a tire.

For a dd car I'd look to the Hankook as best bang for the buck then Dunlop. If you were tracking the car or doing auto-x my first choice would be the Dunlop.

No love for the BFG Rival? Mine are lasting considerably longer than what I was expecting from them.

Excellent tire, but might be overkill for a dd car not seeing any track time.

I was reading about the Rival last night. Its really hard to decide. All three are great tires.

I've read and heard a lot of racers say if your not going to be driving 10/10ths on these tires(the ones your thinking about), then you will not be able to tell the difference between them. On the street you can't and shouldn't be driving 10/10ths anyway, so price should be your deciding factor. Again R-S3 is the clear winner.

That's a great suggestion. R-S3 it is then.
