staggered setup

Hey all, I was just wondering who here is running a staggered setup for wheels (18x8 +17 front, 18x9+24 rear). I understand that is similar to a setup for a rwd. the reason I ask is because I found a discontinued set of rays gt-v and I've had my eye on them for awhile. I don't want to do the run of the mill ce28 or t37 that you constantly see evos. I've always been a fan of this wheel, and the color combination is especially rare. This is why I am asking the evo community, it would be nice to gain some insight. In my, the slightly smaller lip on the front doesn't seem like it would look out of place. I don't want to sink money into refinishing them and than get them on the car and realize that staggered setups truly do belong on rwd cars, so maybe somebody here has done this. Heres a picture of the wheels, listed at the beginning of the post are the dimensions.

Your proposal is not that far off

Many examples of EVO's w/staggered offsets. The issue IMO is the wheel width differences which gives you a slightly different tire footprint (assuming you were planning on running the same size tire, which is critical)

Ya I understand that now, I was more worried about the way the difference in offsets would look, I never even considered the negative effects a wider tire width would have on the transfer case. I've heard that you can have a difference in rolling diameter around <5%. Width is a little different, thanks for the input guys, this is something that should have came to mind

Search around, you will see there are many running a shallow front offset up front & deeper offset in rear. Enkei RPF1's are run that way all the time

I still dont like the idea of running different width wheels but here are 3 threads that discuss the topic

that was quite informative. It obviously can be done, a gtr runs 285 in the rear, and 255 up front. Then again that is an entirely different system which the evo doesn't compare to

Should be ok if you can get them to fit and run the same size tyre(Same rolling diameter)
Use 235/40/18
17x9 on front and 17x8 on back
Most probably you have to do some fender work on the back

as long as the overall diameter of the tires is the same and the tread depth is within 2 32nds you can technically run these. but with awd vehicles you really want the rolling resistances to be the same and a wider tire will have more rolling resistance. you really want everything to be exactly the same on all four corners, the more variables you change axle to axle the more likely hood you have of binding the gears of the t case. all comes down to what youre willing to risk running these wheels. also imo discontinued wheels are dope and rare but what happens when a pot hole come along...

You could, but I personally wouldn't. Maybe if you REALLY like those, have them relipped to be square.

Yea staggered offset is fine, but make sure to run same width wheels and same tire size all the way around

staggered offset is fine, but that's not what OP is talking about.
