Evo 8 and 9 steering racks compatible?

Hey guys,
I've been getting a sweet grinding when going lock to lock on my 9 MR's steering wheel. Two grinds when going to the left, two to the right. Fairly sure my culprit is a ****ed steering rack, since the car was in an accident a while back. I've found a rack from an 05 Evo and I just want to double check to make sure that rack is compatible with a 9 MR.
I know 8s and 9s are supposed to be mechanically identical for the most part, just checking.
Thanks!

Looked it up and all I can pull out was a single part number so yes, they are exactly the same. Heck, if I remember correctly, I replaced 03 rack with one from an 06 MR.

Awesome, that's perfect. God bless Mitsubishi.

Picked the new rack up today! I'll post back when I install it just to confirm fitment, but should fit just perfect.

A helpful zombie is a good zombie.

Evo racks are crazy expensive. There is a roughly $700 difference between a quality rebuild and a new rack. So if you have the space, toss the old one into storage and pull it out to trade for a rebuild the next time you need one.

This can make rebuilt possible - or much faster - when the parts are in short supply. At the least, it saves stuffing a rack into the back seat and having it leak all over the place.

I seem to trash my rack roughly every five years, so I'm just going to preemptively rebuild the one I have in storage after ~3 years...
