Which class do you intend to run? If your running a stock class (sorry dont keep up with the Evos, they run A stock right?) a hoosier slick would be best. If you intend to run in the new STU class then the Falken Azenis would most likely be your best bet. Obviously with your mods you would not be running the stock class.

You will want either Hoosiers 245/40 or Kumho Victoracers in 255/40. I run Victoracers. The Hoosiers are a tad stickier but don't last nearly as long. Also, if you aren't experienced at driving your car Hoosiers are easier to destroy (flatspot, etc)

"Best" autocross tires could mean different things to different people...
In Stock/Street Prepared/Street Modified classes, probably 98% of the Nationally competitive drivers run either Hoosiers (A3S03/A3S04/R3S03/R3S04) or Kumhos (Victoracer V700/Ecsta V700/V710).
Kumhos are more economical -- cheaper and last longer -- unless you're good enough to win National level events. If you're that good, Hoosier gives away free tires for National level class victories, but only if you're already on Hoosiers.
On a hot dry day on a "grippy" surface, the Hoosiers should have a noticeable advantage. With cooler temperatures, or with wet or slippery pavement, the Kumhos might be the tire to have.
If you run Hoosiers or Ecsta V700s, make sure you dial in a lot of negative camber. Hoosier recommends -2.5 to -3.0 degress negative camber. The Ecsta V700 probably wants similar camber numbers.

I would more or less echo what jbrennen and broeli said. I ran the Ecsta V700 last year and had problems chewing up the outside shoulder. That was on a stock suspension though (I run in A Stock); with coilovers, that probably wouldn't be an issue. Right now, I have a set of 245-40-17 Hoosier A3S04s waiting to be mounted...
