Great choice in the MPSS. Don't worry about tire wear, they come with a pretty good mileage warranty so keep driving!

out of curiosity, why are the MPSS so popular? i've never used them, so i'm not in the know.
they are $100+ more than the Hankook R-S3 which grips better and $250+ more than the Hankook v12 which will probably outlast the PSS.
i assume it's because they are a happy medium? decent grip and mileage? that would be a nice option for those that only have one set of wheels. but, man.. they are pricey.

I think we've established that the V12s aren't all that great when it comes to grip, so that's why they are as inexpensive as they are. I remember the day I drove out of America's Tire after they were installed on my car, I immediately knew I would probably never buy them again.

Well, yeah. They're a cheaper street tire with a high utqg. I was just using them as a price point, along with the rest of my post.
I daily drive the crap out of them, myself. Then again, I don't need crazy grip to put around town.

I love tires with instant turn-in. Down the street from my house, after the big snow melted away, there's two deep potholes perfectly spaced to catch both front wheels. It looks like the street department would have had to dig them for that perfect of alignment. Even though I drive this street several times a day, every time those holes emerge from beneath the vehicle ahead of me, I'm daydreaming and startled. I crank the wheel and miss them and then look in the mirror to watch the vehicle behind me get pounded.

I agree, which is why I strayed from getting Z1s again in 2012. But I wanted a little more than what the V12s provide. I think these might fit that description.

At full price the MPSS are about $100 more than the RS-3, but after the rebate they are pretty much the same price. But now it seems like tirerack is doing close out pricing. $108 for stock size tires for RS-3

I used the V12s on my old car and they worked pretty well given that I never raced or tracked that car but for just being a set for daily driving they worked well

They are my go-to tire unless something is on sale. I.E. right now I'm on Nitto 555s because there was an awesome rebate. They are on their third year. The things last forever LOL

Personally I'd still avoid them. I agree about the on-sale stuff though - Tire Rack has Hankook RS-3s for something like $108 a tire right now in stock size.

it's kinda like e-85. yeah.. they are cheaper now.. but you will go through them twice as fast as a 300utqg tire. That's crazy for a daily tire.

I think right around there. I know they weren't lasting too long for most people.

there's a few threads here with people quoting the same mileage with daily driving. people that autox'd, etc were getting 12-15k. that sounds about right for those tires.

That's probably over a year's driving for more people. not too bad, IMO. I still buy higher UTQG tires because i'm a cheap skate LOL. Three years on these bad boys and still about 70% thread left. I'll have to toss them due to stress cracks long before they wear out.
