Camber definitely plays into the ability to fit wheels. I probably run a lot more rear camber (and a lot stiffer springs) than most here and I can fit 18x10.5 +30 with an ugly pull on stock fenders. While I agree that wheel fitment shouldn't drive your alignment settings, that doesn't mean you can't take advantage of your alignment to fit wheels.

Running out of performance camber settings to fit the assy is not right. Running rear camber ( greater than 2 degrees) for the sake of fitment doesnt work well for me. Make the corrections w/body work before sacrificing suspension performance

In other words, choose the correct wheel & tire spec based on your acceptance level & be ready to make the necessary body mods to fit

I previously ran 17x10 +18 front and +28 rear with 255/40 rs3s and that wheel setup never rubbed... ever... and all I did was have the rear fenders rolled completely flat.. Im now running 18x9.5 +22 and a 265/35 ad08r and I rub the in the rear bad as well as the front fender liners and the the very front of the sideskirts-_- 18 inch wheels are a pita so far...

Yeah, I think we're on the same page. I do run much greater than 2 degrees in the rear though (for performance purposes, mind you).

Do you track or race your car? That setup would have rubbed in the rear without a some pull on the fenders, and the bumper bolt relocated. Just cruising around town it may not have rubbed, but go out and push the car and it will.

Kada_85, We all like to run 18"s as well, with only a roll in back, to do that, we need to know these important measurements to see if its doable on our particular cars. Its all we need to know to compare...

1) What is your camber setting F/R?
2) What is your measured ride height from center of the axle to bottom of fender F/R?


P.S.
I noticed in your post you run 18x9.5 +22, but in your sig line it says 18x9.5 +35???

So some possible solutions for you would be to run a fender widening kit. This will space out the fender. Also you should bend the fender liner with heat. Bending it in will give more clearance so it doesn't rub. As look into increasing the negative camber of the wheel.

For the rear you need to relocate the rear bumper bolt. It also depends on how your rear quarters are rolled. Usually when I roll the rear fender I don't just roll it flat I pull the fender out as well. This gives more clearance and its a more difficult technique. I see a lot of people mess it up. Again look into increasing negative camber.

After all these things are considered 18X9.5 +22 with a 265/35 tire works well on an Evo and is one of the best fitment setups for the car.

I have run a 18x10 et about 28 in the rear, cant remember the spacer exactly, for years with no rubbing. Fenders were rolled flat with a 265/35-18 tire.

I also autocrossed with a 17x9 with a 275/40 tire with no rubbing. I know the tire iis wide for the rim but I got a great deal.

i'm on a 17x9.5 +38 wheel and 255 tire which required rolling the fenders. before i swapped out all my control arm bushings (car has 100k+miles), my inner rim was rubbing on the lower control arm during tight, hard cornering (autox events; no issue on the road course).
i can't imagine going WIDER.
i'm wondering if all the stress and work is worth going to a 275 tire, along with the cost of bumping up to 18s....
i think if i make the jump, i'll go with over fenders and an aggressive offset to avoid all the hassle.

That's basically where I ended up. This year Ill be running 17x10.5 +27 with a 3mm spacer but had to destroy my rear fenders. I intended to put over fenders on so it doesn't matter.

Who makes a 17x10.5? Also, which tires? I can't find a 275 I like for a 17" wheel.

They are actually mustang cobra r replicas for the 94-04 generation. They are not light but I am not a nationally competitive guy so its not the end of the world. There was a sale for $99 a piece and I couldn't resist.

My tires are R-comps, Kumho Ecsta V710. If your talking a street tire, I don't have great advice but I would guess the popular AutoX street tires would have the appropriate size.

i now the wheels you are talking about. i had them on one of my mustangs LOL. yeah, those bad boys were not light

r-comps explains it. not a lot of higher-utgq tires avail in that width. i don't even thing the autox guys have 275 options for 17" wheels. maybe someone will chime in on that.

What wheels are you guys running in 17x10 or wider? I have 17x9 ULR's now, and 949Racing just released 17x10 but the offset is a stupid +52 so no go. I know about the Cobra R Replicas (Forgestar F14) in 17x10.5, there are also Varrstoen ES3 in 17x10 +22 and XXR 527's in 17x9.75 +25. Anything else?

Most are 17 x 10 any wider is hard to find. Wide 17" wheels/tires are going extinct.
