Front Strut Replacement Options IX MR

I have to replace my front struts on my 06 EVO IX MR. Are the Bilsteins the only ones that will fit? Or is there another option that will fit. Ideally I'd love to replace with the Bilsteins but funds are somewhat tight and would like a cheaper alternative in the meantime.

You could buy some used kyb struts(came on the non MR models).

Thanks. I was looking into those, but were unsure if they would fit. Do you know if they will? I know they make some that fit the rear, but I am replacing the front.

I die a little inside thinking about replacing the Bilsteins with KYB's but yeah they will fit fine. Have you looking into sending your old ones out to be rebuilt?

I have. But I really think just ordering and replacing is the way to go to avoid unnecessary downtime right now. Thanks!

You can get Bilstien B6's from rock auto. I would go that route.

I believe the kyb struts new are very very very expensive. Like 300ish per strut. So if you're tight on money getting a used pair or struts seem like the way to go. The suspension geometry won't be the same if you get kyb struts in the front and have bilsteins in the back compared to having bilsteins in front and back. Or you can get replacements bilsteins new for like 350 a pop. I was in this scenario and I just ended up being a whole set of used struts.

The suspension geometry would be identical. It would be the damping the shock generates that wouldn't match front to rear.

Yes..... and as stated in original post the bilsteins are the only ones that do. Which is why I was asking if anyone knew if any others would fit. But thanks for the completely obvious input.
