17x9 wheels - recommendations?
Got my tax check back, and need new shoes for the EVO
I found these, and really love the looks, the color and the price of these wheels, I just don't know if they will fit over the front brakes...
MB Motorsports Competition
17X9 5-114.3 27GM
http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...odeIndex=51027
Anybody have these MB wheels mounted on their EVO? Anyone tried and failed?? I searched the archives, and couldn't find a reference to them, and DiscountTireDirect doesn't list wheels wider than 8 inches for EVO usage...
My second choice is the
5zigen FN01R-C
17x9 5114.3 35SMF
in basic silver, or maybe the hyper black if I could find them in stock. I like the MB's looks better, but these would be decent and I'm pretty sure they fit since folks on the board already have them mounted.

PS - what tires did you 17x9 folks mount on your rims??

I was going to call and talk to the folks that make this wheel, but I can't find MB Motorsport's home page to save my life!!
Just a bunch of diecast companies and NASCAR Truck racing companies with teh same name.... grrrrrrr!!

The company is actually called Maruka Service. The wheel is called Finalspeed made by A-Tech. Here is the Japanese site: http://www.marukanet.co.jp/

I contacted Discount Tire Direct about the MB Motorsports wheels, and the guy I talked to was no help at all...
He said that the wheel is for a Mustang and is guaranteed not to fit an EVO, since their engineers test fit every wheel to every car. Since the wheel was not listed as fitting the EVO according to their documentation, then he guarantees it wont fit the EVO... I questioned him about the 5zigen 17x9s, since DiscountTireDirect sell them, and people have them on EVOs right now, but they are not listed as a fitment for the EVO according to their sacred fitment documentation. I was told that such talk was pure blasphemy and that I was a heathen and would be smyted mightily for even insinuating such incidiousness and lechery... "all bow to the scripture of holy wheel fitment"!!
He also said a private company manufactures the MB Motorsports wheels specifically for Discount Tire Direct and that there is no one else to contact about fitment for them, except DiscountTireDirect. I'm doubly screwed!
overall, I'm not real happy with Discount Tire Direct right now, although I can see their point in not wanting to sell wheels 1 inch wider than normal for various liability and fitment reasons... but just come out and say that, don't BS us!!
someone rich buy them and give them a try on their EVO and then post up here if they fit dang it!!!

I just got FN01R-C's 17x9 +35 from Discount Tire Direct, with Yoko ES100 245-40's. They called me to confirm, since they don't have this listed as a fit for the Evo. Anyway, this setup fits perfectly, and from what I can tell there's no less clearance than the stock setup, they just stick out a bit farther. I would have gone with 255-40's, but I wasn't sure if they would fit without any rubbing.
And you know, their sacred fitment documentation might be wrong anyway. Their "fitment team" claimed that the stock tire size for the Evo was 245-45, but that was probably just a typo since they were questioning whether wider tires would fit. The guy on the phone also thought it was odd that this was being red flagged, when I was going with a lower profile but the same width as stock (although in reality I was going wider).

Can you order the Bronze 17x9 +27 A-Tech FinalSpeeds? If so, can you quote me a price on them?
