Enkei PF-09

I just ordered a set of these, 17x9 +35, in this Matte Gunmetal color. They're pretty new I guess...I wasn't able to find anything here on EvoM yet.

Pros:
Cheap, relatively speaking
Enkei claims good caliper clearance
Lightweight, again relatively (I'll weigh one when I get em)
Produced by a reputable manufacturer
Should be able to buy replacements/spares for a while as needed

Cons:
US availability is gonna suck for the forseeable future. Per Enkei USA "We don't plan to stock this part number. It's too expensive."
Special order, 4-6 month lead time.
Cheap-ish, cast wheel. Will be interesting to see how durable they are.

They look like an interesting option in the realm of cheap-ish wheels. I have two other sets of aftermarket wheels for this car, both 18's and i'm trying to go back to at least one set of 17s to try to cut my tire costs down a bit. FWIW, if they offered a 17x9.5 / ~ +30, i'd probably have gone for that, but i'm keeping it pretty conservative in general with this car these days so no worries.

Enkei claims excellent caliper clearance so once I confirm that i'll report back here as well as the sticky-d thread. Since we know that this spec in RPF1 does not fit stock caliper w/o a spacer however the PF01SS does fit w/o spacer.
I'll get a weight on one of them too.

They arrived and I got some pics. The Matte Gunmetal looks different in person, unsurprisingly. I had some concerns that this color might be too matte and thus retain a bunch of brake dust and whatever and be more difficult to clean. Not the case. They have a nice dull matte color with a smooth, glossy clear coat. And yet, they aren't too glossy. Well done Enkei. It's tough to capture accurately with the camera and they look different in person. I might try to do a video.

Look to have lots of caliper clearance but will confirm when I test fit. Our good scale at work is out for cal so I don't have weight yet, but soon hopefully. In the meantime, here are some pics. Note that i'm using a bright fluorescent light only about 3.5' off the surface of the workbench.

They look real nice. Post up some pics after install for sure. 17x9 +35 hopefully going to run a 255/40?

Thanks man, will do. Will run 245/45. Ive almost always run 255 on every 9" wheel but am stepping out of the extreme performance summer 200tw category into a max performance (Advan Apex V601). In anticipation of a little softer sidewall I'm going to do the 245 to triangulate the casing just a bit. Keep the response sharper hopefully.

Also kinda looking forward to the thicc sidewalls haha.

No 17x9.5 :/
I would have bought those.

If you want 9.5 gotta go into 18 land. Im taking a break from 18s.

Spent most of the day yesterday at home smoking a pork butt. Gave me an opportunity to get out there and test fit. They will require a spacer to clear the front calipers. It seems that a 7mm spacer will provide about 3.5 mm of clearance at the closest point, which to me seems about the minimum you'd want to use.

My process was simple. Using 2mm washers to shim the wheel outboard, I just went up in increments of 2mm. I found that 6mm worth of shims gets you to about 2.5mm clearance. Hence 7mm should be the minimum spacer thickness to allow for thermal expansion and other small movement. I torque'd the lugs to take the measurements. Here's some pics with notes.

I'll be using 10mm spacers up front when I install these wheels. I'll get some more pics at that time.

Here we are w/o any shims, wheel is currently contacting caliper. You can see the gap on the left is slightly larger.

Checking clearance with feeler gauges...a little masking tape to prevent marring.

With 6mm worth of shims, 3.3mm of feeler gauge almost makes it. 7mm of shims would have done it. *Lug nuts installed*

These next pics illustrate clearance with lugs installed and 6mm of shim. It was really tricky to get the vantage point and lighting.

Again, the lighting was really tricky. This makes it look artificially close to the crossover tube.

Significantly heavier than same spec RPF1 (~ 3 lbs I believe). Maybe correlates to strength? Although i'd assume they use a constant Factor of Safety target for wheels in their "Racing" product line? I'm no engineer. Here's to hoping.

PF01 in same spec is listed @ 19.18 ea, so we're right there.
