Ultimate Budget Track Wheel Setup
This morning I decided to play mad scientist with my roommates R58 OEM Cobra R wheels. They're 17x9's and currently shod with 255/40/17 V700's. It worked, it does not rub, it has massive amounts of brake clearance. If you dont care about sacrelige and just want some wheels that work and can carry a wider tire, then this is the perfect setup. Here's some pics from this morning.

The real OEM R58 is 22.5lbs, so you're gaining a pound and a half for the extra width over stock. Obviously the big weight difference is going to come from the fatter tire.
At $149 a corner I could care less about unsprung weight as it will be allowing more of my budget to be spent on more events and better tires.
Most people arent after gaining an extra second at a HPDE event and dont have a thousand dollars to throw at wheels. That's why I called this a budget track wheel setup, hopefully it will allow more people to get out there.

thats funny.
I am going to put those on my car just to mess with the cobra guys.
Can you imagine me beating a cobra, then stop and tell him I am even using his own wheels. LOL LOL
At least here in ohio it would be funny.

I used the stock Evo lugs as you can see in the pic of the brake clearance. IMO before tracking I'd probably get some longer studs with open ended nuts, just to be on the safe side. Plus long studs look cool, madmax/roman chariot style.
