Tire/wheel weight question - performance view

I am looking at purchasing a set of 18x8.5 Enkei's (24 lbs) along w/ 245/40 Falken FK-451 tires. My question is this, will the extra weight be that noticable, from a performance stand point? I imagine the larger tires will weigh more than the Advan's on the car now. I was looking at the weight of 245/40 Kumho MX's and they weighed in at 25 lbs. So that is 50 lbs per corner. And from what I recall, the weight of the stock Enkei's and Advans is around 42-45 lbs? So that is at least 5 lbs per corner.

Am I just going crazy over this or is this something to worry about? Thanks.

I have a set of 18x8,5 Enkei Zenkei (made in Japan) in a basement, haven't used them since sold my GTI. I have 215/35 Proxes for front and 225/35 Falkens for rear. The ones with Falkens weigh about 54lbs, but tires are fabulous! Bigger heavier wheels work essentially like flywheels- it takes extra power to spin them and they hold kinetic energy better than lighter wheels (deceleration is worse). But with taller (by circumference) and thinner (by profile) tires handling and "feeling of the road" is enhanced tremendously.

As far as the weight it will affect the cars acceleration, no telling whether you will actually feel it or not. But the other side of the coin is the added unspring weight does take it's toll everything everything else in the suspension.

Plus in an 18 Inch wheel, you are moving the bulk of the weight further from the rotational center, increasing the flywheel effect of that extra weight on acceleration and braking.
