Bogie, sounds like you really liked them. I have not been able to find many reviews of those tires. Did you run them on the track?
Yes I did. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make back-to-back runs with any of the tires.

I also have a set of Yokohama A-032 as well as the stock Advans. Out of the three, I would probably rate the Corsas as the overall best tire. As I mentioned above, they did everything a bit better than the Advans and matched up well with the A-032: They were less tempermental when cold and were quiter--they emitted less road noise and didn't produce that "slapping" sound over uneven pavement.

Moreover, they are relatively light, similiarly worn stock Advan A-046 vs Corsas (my A-032s, 26 lbs full depth, are bigger, 245/45-17): Advan A-046: 21 lbs (full depth: 25 lbs); Corsas: 18 lbs (full depth: 23 lbs).

Does anyone know exact WEIGHT on all these tires: I also will be looking for replacements and the Advans are not my choice. I do a lot of highway driving (commute to school). I love the ADVANs grip but, truth is, for me they just arent the best choice.

I was wondering if there is any-place I can get tire WEIGHTS. I know that sound stupid but I really dont want to put a heavier tire on the car. I want something equal or lighter than the stock ADVANs. Someone said in pages 1-3 that the Toyo's are 5lbs lighter?! Which Toyo tire is that? Any suggestions?

Tom

I posted a couple of exact weights above, but Tirerack now lists tire weights. Look under "specs."

For autoX, the best performing "slick" right now would probably be the Kumho V710.

The Hoosier A3S04 and A3S05 are right up there too, but don't seem to last as long.

For track days, the V710 or Hoosier's road race tires (R3S04) are very sticky but you could easily use a set up in one day.

For both autoX and track days, the Toyo Proxes RA-1 is a good tire if you don't want to go broke buying tires. The RA-1 is a treaded tire, but very sticky. At full tread depth, there is some tread squirm and the tires squeal like crazy, but behavior is very predictable. As the tread wears down, the tires get faster and faster (in the dry -- but slower and slower in the rain). I would guess that you could get 20 or more autocrosses out of a set of RA-1s, or perhaps 5 or 6 track days, including driving the tires to the events, which you would never want to do on the V710s or Hoosiers.

For the stock rims, you probably want 245/40R17.

Tire Rack has them all:

You're so right about RA1's. My tires are worn and are so much stickier now. I just wonder how long I can get away with them. Autocrossing they rock. I'd use em again, but I really want the new advan Neovas.

Well I spent a bunch of time in this thread a couple weeks ago trying to figure out what tire to get. I just had a set of Toyo T1-S' installed this morning. They seemed to get relatively positive feedback in this discussion. I've only driven 30 miles on them (just driving to work) so I don't have much to tell yet, but I do have a couple of initial impressions.

Good: they're quieter than the Advans. They also ride a bit nicer. They seem to still grip quite well. Like i said, I haven't pushed these at all yet but a couple of highspeed ramps in the wet from last nights rain didn't seem to bother them.

Bad: not sure about this yet, but my initial "seat of the pants" feeling is some of that go-kart-like steering response with the Advans is not there. The steering response is still good but doesn't feel like the cars on rails as much as id did with the Advans. We'll see how that goes over the next few days.

Overall I think I'm going to be happy with them. I don't AutoX, or take the car to the drag strip. Pretty much just use it as my commuter (60 miles/day) and have a fun time doing it. I like to push it a little when I can but I'm not doing anything crazy on the street so the longevity I'll get out of these in spite of the slight downgrade in performance will be ok for my uses.

But, they still feel like a really GOOD performance tire, I just think the Advans are exceptional.

Thanks for your input box. I've decided on a set on T1-S's for my new rims.. If for some reason I need more grip I'll throw a set of R1's on the stock rims. I really like the fact that they are great in rain.. and are fairly cheap.

After a few hundred miles your tires should stiffen up a bit. I'm still running snow tires.. It's been probably 6 months since I've even been on a summer tires on

You're right.. the Advans are exceptional.. but they come at a price.
