Anything that compares to Advans?

Mounting tip...
Make certain to tell the tire mounting place that the paint on the wheels is very fragile - walk the manager or whoever around the vehicle and note any wheel damage - and get it in writing that they won't damage your wheels. Don't assume that they know how to handle hi-po stiff sidewall tires, or that they give a crap that the stock wheels cost 540 bucks a pop from the dealer.
I learned the hard way that not all recommended mounting locations know what they're doing - and what I thought was going to be an enjoyable new tires experience has turned into a pain-in-the-*** gonna have to get my wheels re-painted experience.

Yeah mine are scratched up a bit from the dealer already I've been taking them to another place that doesn't scratch them up. They are being mounted now.. I cant wait!
First impressions just at looking at the tire... They look very nice.. super stiff too.. I wish I would have taken pics before I dropped the car off but I'm too excited.
Tire Rack really is the shiznit.. I ordered Friday afternoon and had the tires today Tuesday before 11.
I can't wait to break them in a little bit.. I think from now on I'll be rotating every oil change now that I'm taking care of that myself

Well so far I miss my Advans hehe.. I've only put around 50 miles on the Bridgestones so far so they're not reallyl broken in yet. I can already tell a big difference in the sidewall but I want to wait a few hundred miles before jumping to any conclusions.
I checked my tire pressure (hot) when I got home and it was 55 front / 50 rear :| The max pressure on the sidewall is 51 so I just left all at 50 for now. I've got to retorque the lugs to 74ft/lbs to make sure my brakes don't start warping again..
Neal do you recommend any certain tire pressure (cold)? I'd like to put as much as I can to keep a nice stiff ride but don't want to push too far.

Here is my two cents as the race dealer on the site. You should only be about 2-4 pounds over what the manufacture recommends for street driving. You can use more for track days. General rule of thumb is 5-7 lbs increase from cold to hot. Then adjust from there to get these numbers

I'm looking for a new set of tires that compare to the Advans that are cheaper..
So far the only tire I've really liked is the Potenza RE750.. I wanted to see if you have anything that will compare to the Advan at around 150/ea.. or if the RE750 would be the best choice.
I plan on ordering these in about 2 weeks.. I'm going to try to work hard and get Advans but just wanted to ask
========================
Edit: The following tires were discussed/commented about in this thread:
Advan A032R
BFGoodrich KDW
Bridgestone S-03
Bridgestone RE750
Dunlop FM901
Dunlop SP Sport 9000
Falken Azeni
Goodyear F1 GS-D3
Pirelli P-Zero Nero
Toyo TS-1
Toyo RA-1
I went with the Bridgestone S-03's because it best suits my driving style and budget.

Yes we all know this.. I plan on another set of Advans next fall because I'll have more power by then I really have no complaints with the Advans but I wanted to try something else that wasn't 210+ a tire.
At least with this I'll be able to slide the car and have some fun

Sure - that's the whole point of the thread right? I'm sure everyone here would love to be able to fork over nearly 1000 or so bucks for a set of stock Advans every 10K or so, but not all of us can.

I'm starting to love these tires! Had a lot of rain today.. a lot of water on the roads.. no problems at all They have started to firm up a bit after probably 200 miles or so.. I'm sure things will only get better.
I'm still running a little more pressure than I did in the Advans.. These tires seem really agile in turns.. I haven't broke them loose yet but I haven't tried too hard yet.

take the stock advans to the track... and see how they hold up...
they're awesome grip for a stock tire... and for the firstfew laps of hard driving, they're damn near R-compound... but after that... man.. is it disapointing... chunking, greasy.... you'll feel like you're on costco tires.
my azenis, 245, for being barely 500 for all 4.... hold up much better at the track... even though when really really hot, you will start sliding. but no chunking at all. best part is, knowing to replace them, you're not spending $800+
The grip they produce, is EASILY equal to the stock advans... just be careful of standing water, as in puddles.... in the rain it's never a problem at reasonable speeds... but the second you try to push it, or go through a medium sized puddle..... you'll realize why people don't recommend these tires for wetter climates....
i've gone through 2 sets of these tires on stock wheels... 225 (no flexing at all, but grip isn't on par with the advans)... and the 245, which admittingly flex, and feel a bit heavy... but offer AMAZING grip for the price... and after a bit of getting used to the response, they're awesome.
I do not recommend the 225's at all. you'll be severely disapointed.... but the 245's i highly recommend... but be warned, you will have to change you're driving style to suit them best. which isn't a bad thing... since I was able to lap an M5, pass a Type R on R compounds, and pull on a Z06 through Streets of Willow with these tires...
Best street tires hands down are the Toyo RA-1's though. But the mileage isn't anywhere near the Azenis. Which is obvious though.

It's monsoon season here in Florida and yes they are a little scary hitting standing water at speed, but I have absolutely nothing to complain about the 225 Azenis.

Granted I got much more life out of my A046's than a lot of other people including events, but perhaps I am easier on tires than most.

Have you tried the 245's? because compared to the 225, it's a pretty noticable improvement on the stock rim.

I can imagine a 225 being not as sticky as a 245 of the same tire, duh, but this thread is not about comparing 245 to 225 Azenis, it is about comparing to the stock A046. And IMO the 225 is practically identical to the A046.
