Thumbs up Setrab Oil Cooler Group buy !@!@~

A little back ground on Setrab:

Customized oil coolers for racing

Setrab Oil Coolers have been used by serious racing people throughout the world for more than 20 years.
The achievements by racing teams on all levels, from the local bracket racers to Grand Prix teams who use Setrab Oil Coolers, are to this day unequalled in the world.
In all major motor racing championships that have taken place in the last 15 years, Setrab Oil Coolers have played a vital part in enabling the engines to run at correct oil temperatures.
During the years our involvement in Formula 1, Winston Cup Nascar, Rally World Championship, and all types of endurance racing has proven us right in the design of our oil coolers.
The cooling performance needed, not only to compete, but to enable your engine to last long enough to see the chequered flag and see it first, is only one part of the service we can offer.
The durability of our cooler used at Le Mans, Daytona, Indianapolis, in long-distance racing and in off-road and desert racing like Paris - Dakar, Baja 1000, Rally Pharao etc. is now proven for such a long time that we can assure you of a product that will be an essential part of your stepping into the winners' circle.
Car and motorcycle racers throughout the world rely every weekend or raceday on a product that has become the most sought-after item to ensure that engines stay in one piece...

Manufacturing Process

Setrab has long experience of Controlled Atmosphere Brazing and our coolers are brazed as complete units in computerised furnaces.
This brazing technique is particularly suitable when a cooler has to be provided with a permanent vibration- and pulse-resistant brazing joint in order to endure in demanding applications. The brazing technique is a further reason why we can produce small and medium-sized series of cost-effective coolers.
To achieve high flexibility in our production we work with several furnaces. An advantage is that we can adjust the environment in the furnace to each cooler size.
In addition to the brazing process, which by itself provides a very good internal and external surface treatment, our coolers recieve an epoxy coating to further enhance the outer corrosion resistance and to give the coolers a high surface finish.

Why cooling?

By using coolers for engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, compressors and electronics, the durability and efficiency of the system increase as all components can work at their optimal operating temperature.
EXAMPLE 1. ENGINES
The task of the oil is to lubricate, to seal, to cool and to protect against corrosion. If the properties of the oil deteriorate, the consequence is wear and reduced life expectancy. An engine working at excessively high oil temperatures can be subject to engine failure when the properties of the oil are completely or partially deteriorated.
EXAMPLE 2. HYDRAULIC SYSTEMS
A hydraulic system working at elevated oil temperatures is subject to unnecessary wear. Leakage may occur leading to decreased efficiency which in turn leads to higher operating and maintenance costs and decreases the life expectancy of the system.
EXAMPLE 3. COMPRESSORS, AIR COOLING
The aim of compressing air is to increase the ability of the air to perform work. This ambition is counteracted by the temperature increase of the air during the compression phase. This is true whether it is an industrial compressor or a compressor for a car. When the air is cooled, its density increases and hence its ability to perform work. The efficiency of the system is increased and thus better operating economy is achieved.

Oil Coolers:

Setrab ProLine is developed to meet the racing and aftermarket demand on performance, flexibility and availability.

Key features are: High performance Outstanding flexibility Adapter system

We have utilized 5 different oil cooler designs, each with its own characteristics suitable for different cooling demands.

STD
STD, Air-cooled oil cooler
Setrab STD Coolers are used in low to medium-pressure systems or in circulation systems where the oil cooler is an important component for achieving long and secure functioning. For example, in hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, transformers, fuel coolers, etc.
The range comprises about 700 dimensions, for which we can choose from among several different air fins, turbulators, mounting brackets, placements of connections, and about 100 different kinds of connections.

Technical specifications
  • Maximum working pressure is 10 bar. Approved testing at a dynamic working pressure of 0-10 bar, 200,000 pulsations, 1 Hz.
  • Corrosion protection: Nocolok brazing process and epoxy-coated.
  • Connections: BSP (G), Metric (M), JIC (AN).

Part. No.

L 15.94 x H 7.6 x W 1.83 Part# 50-925-7612 - $240.00

all of these oil coolers are equal or bigger to the stock oil cooler in terms of oil volume.

Remeber the adapters are at the L side, as you can see that some times the Length is some times longer and some times shorter than the Height. This will effect the way the adapters comes out at (mounting solutions)

L = E, H = B on the oil cooler picture!

More info about teh oil Coolers:

Many manufacturers now claim CAB furnace brazing of radiators, oil coolers, and other items. Setrab was the first manufacture in technologically advanced Northern Europe and one of the world's earliest to recognize the benefits of and adopt the Nocolok brazing methods. Cladded aluminum is heated in a controlled environment to the point where the outside layer of cladding liquifies while the inside layer retains its rigidity and thereby its form. Yeah, its tricky...not enough heat equals no joint, while too much heat results in a molten mass of raw material. Mass production tunnel furnaces cannot produce comparable quality with any variety. When you consider the literally thousands of oil cooler configurations that Setrab produces you begin to comprehend the dark art behind this technology. This system results in the best heat transfer, durability, and consistency. Setrab has perfected the art AND science of our oil cooler brazing technology and today are recognized internationally as the choice of top teams and builders across all venues of motorsport. Setrab also lists many prominent marques among its legion of high performance OE applcations including McLaren, Ferrari, AMG, Audi RS, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Maserati, Mosler, Koenigsegg, and Lamborghini.

Due the dynamic environment of the oiling cycle, oil coolers require manufacturing to different standards than mere radiators. Pulsations in oil delivery and variable pressures demand much heavier duty units. You can look but you simply will not find another oil cooler that rejects as much heat with less pressure restriction than the Setrab STD oil cooler. Such a performance advantage has lended Setrab its prominent reputation and its place on the podium alongside champions at the very top levels.

Now, to your fin interest...

Setrab fins are one of the many features that contribute to Setrab performance and durability. Setrab fins are manufactured in house to our own specific tolerances. Considering our brazing method, explained above, you can see how important such tolerance is to durability as when it is all brazed together it effectively becomes one piece. With no barrier to heat transfer within the bond and functional concentrated mini-louvers Setrab fins are performance dynamo's.

Setrab turbulators are the inside of the coolers' equivalent the the outside's fin. Again, in house production insures tolerance quality that is necessary for proper heat transfer and pressure accomodation. Setrab turbulators are a special in-line design that function to gently stir the fluid as it travels through the tube breaking down boundary layer effect and affording unmatched performance with minimal pressure drop.

so if we go with the L 8.27 x H 7.6 x W 1.83 Part# 50-125-7612 - $170.00.. This is a good upgrade for the stock cooler and should support spirited driving? How easy is it to install this size.
