I think Pioneer's going to see a spike in AVIC-Z1 sales! Has anyone bought theirs yet? I've been looking on pricegrabber.com, and it appears they are available for less than $1600. But... I'm not sure about the reputation of the dealers, whether they are factory authorized (warranty?) etc.
Anyone have any comments, positive/negative experiences, etc.?

All the reviews on it seem to be very positive. I'm considering the AVIC-Z1 and the Eclipse AVN-6600. The only bad thing I've heard about the Z1 is if you really like to use your iPod for music. It has an optional iPod connector, but I heard the controls weren't that good. However, if you don't use an iPod, then the Z1 seems to be the perfect unit.

I heard that you can't change your route while the car's moving for the Z1 so you'd have to pull over every time you wanna change the heading.... =\

guys. check out avic411.com for a lot of z1 info. there is a flasher relay that lets you use al of the locked outbfeatures while you're driving. also the ipod support isn't much faster on the z1 than the 6600 since I've had both waiting for the double din kit to come.

What I can say is that the manufacturer has already shipped our un-finished kits to my contractor in CA for preparation and the application of the metallic-finish on each part. They are telling me that they will be shipping to me early this week.
The manufacturer is scheduled to ship out the black grained kits to me (not my contractor) between 07/18 and 07/21. As of this very moment, everything is totally on schedule with that shipment.
Does this clarify any miscommunication? I am on vacation right now, but you guys are more than welcome to contact me via email or PM with further questions. I'm doing my best on this, so please try to remain patient.

OK
I hope at least twenty of you guys have some free time this weekend..
the first shipment of 20 black grained kits came in this afternoon and i've spent my day inspecting/packaging since I got home from work. i have several more shipments, totalling to a 100 unit first production run grained/metallic, scheduled to arrive between friday and early next week.
Thank you ALL for the patience, support, and enthusiasm on getting this product out. You guys have been great and I hope you provide some good feedback, posts, and pics of your installs as well as the finished product.
BTW.. they look absolutely surreal.
