The stock antenna is coated in rubber, not made entirely from rubber. The aluminum antennas do NOT have better reception than stock. The longer aluminum one may have better reception than the "stubby" Honda type, but only because of length, not because of what it's made of.
From using them, I can't discern any difference in reception. My stock Evo antenna pretty much sucked (compared to my other cars with normal 42" antennas), and none of these seem any better or worse than that.
