Flucuation in sound on SSS?
I have noticed that while driving when listening to the radio or Sat radio when I hear a song I like and turn up the sound it only sounds good for about 10-15 seconds then it seems to muffle down and the bass will not hit as hard. Now if the car is idling or turned off but with the key in Assc. the sound is much much more clear and does not muffle down after some time. Now I know that road noise has a effect, but it does sounds ok for just alittle bit. Kind of has me stumped. Anyone else notice this and is there anything I can do to fix it.

My outlander does the same thing with the same radio...I think its hit or miss. Had dealer look at it, and pull the radio...couldnt find anything. Annoying....but you'll (unfortunately) get used to it....

I have the same issue on an MR.
The speed compensated volume is off. What it appears to be is a dynamic normaliser or dynamic range compressor. My old Focus stereo had that option, as did my last Pioneer head unit.
What happens is that the head unit is making quiet sounds louder and louder sounds quiet, so when bass punches hard, it starts loud and then goes quiet. Mine appears to react within 3-4 seconds also, so the start of songs sound good.
It is VERY disappointing.
Some people like this sound, though.

i have to admit, this is an extremely annoying problem. When listening to anything above 30, it will lower the volume after a couple seconds, but then during a quiet part of a song it will raise it again, then lower it once the music gets louder... I'm sure no one has found a work around for this yet, I'm thinking of calling Mitsubishi...

Yes, it's very annoying. It's especially annoying when you're listening to a Sirius station, you hear a song you like and crank it up... Still sounds quiet... you're almost at like 45 and it's still pretty quiet. The song ends, you change stations and the next station BOOOOOOOOMS into your ear!
****ing annoying if you ask me...
