I don't see why you couldn't just flash it back to stock though if something did go wrong.

To the OP: What are your thoughts on the 135i's lack of a dip-stick? I know its somewhat trivial and off-topic, but BMW's philosophy on preventing one to be able to check something as basic as their oil level astounds me. I know they want you to get it serviced at the dealer, but I think that is a bit ridiculous.

PROcede does not throw a detectable code. If they see it, I'm sure it would be an issue.

Its a piggyback, but you could remove it if you wanted to.

There's no manual dipstick, but there's a digital one in the cockpit. It uses a 7 quart system, and can detect if its even a liter low. If you are almost a quart low, the car will warn you. IMO, its safer and more interactive than any dipstick car I've had. Changing oil is a snap, filter access is the best of any car I've had (right on top under the hood), and drain plug is easy access.

I think the no dipstick thing has been misunderstood in the media and talked about excessively when its not a big deal. If the system malfunctions, it will throw a trouble code.

Good choice on the 135. My 335i with only a Split Second Turbo Tuner made 302rwhp on a Dynapak dyno with 91 octane. Shiv's mods are impressive as are Active Autowerks and many other tuners with many at 350rwhp and some much higher. Dinan just detuned their ECU from a more agressive tune for longevity reasons some believe.

Have you experienced limp home mode yet? Much discussion on this topic and in my opinion and a few others, it is coolant related shut down, not oil.

You bumped a super old thread to prove a point? (which is wrong BTW)

DG Motors Dyno Dynamics has the newer software, and reads higher than Dyno4mance, sorry.

Lol theres only 2 things stopping me from getting a 135i: The faulty fuel pump and the ecu. I've read in a 135 forum that models manufactured after 2008 all have new ecu software that could "detect" and log any changes in the ecu settings (tuning, etc) and would void your warranty as soon as the dealer reads your ecu... Edit: Here's a link to the thread. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211061 Noize, what do you think about this? Is there any way around it? I'm debating on a car now, and it's between the x and the 135i.

get a X, power wise the two are pretty similar but the X has much more options beyond bolt on. And the X looks much better

Meh. I went from an 01 325xi to the X two weeks ago. It's tough to compare cars that are so far apart in price. I also find it difficult to compare awd to rwd. Those of you that don't live in MinneSNOWta might not see the difference, though. lol.

Show me an AWD BMW that compares to the X. Find me a 3-series with a decent stock stereo! The beauty about the auto industry is that everybody has different criteria when they decide what car to buy. It keeps things interesting. The X was definitely the best mix for me this time around...who knows what my next car will be!
