Road racing Ernie's TTP tuned '08 MR TBE+K&N @ 1.00% CF uncorrected MD!

Ernie brought us his 2008 Evolution MR today complete with GReddy Ti-C full turbo back exhaust, and simple drop in K&N filter on rom 52690019. His goals were modest because his master plan was to road race the car down in south Florida where he drove in from. The car came in with the GReddy silencer in the tailpipe which we asked to remove before baselining the car. We wanted to insure that we were able to test the car under the minimum backpressure conditions he would be using the car under while racing.

With the silencer pulled out and the car strapped down, we baselined it in 4th gear at a lackluster 249whp/277tq @ 1.00%CF uncorrected with the existing modifications. The car in stock mapping form and 22psi peak exhibited 2-3 knocksums on the stock mapping on 11.2 AFR tapering to 10.8 near redline.

We then got to work on the remapping of the ECU, smoothing out the boost curve, MIVEC camshaft advance on the intake and exhaust, remapping the ignition timing to eliminate the knock on stock mapping and ironed out the air fuel ratio. The results showed a smooth curve on stock un-modified boost control solenoids with power jumping to 290whp/302tq @ 1.00%CF uncorrected. We gave the option to upgrade to the boost line from us, however to remain on a conservative note for road racing, Ernie decided to save that for next visit and set of mods down the line. In testing the MR through the gears in simulated road mode, the AFR remained consistant through the shifting of the gears with no knock and a very conservative 18psi tapering to 15psi.

I couldn't be happier, well worth the 3 hour drive! TTP is definitely a top notch shop - I highly recommend. I'm looking forward to my next visit!!

It was tempting to leave the stock boost control solenoids for higher power but I decided to stay very conservative..

Thanks Scott!

As an added bonus, the car picked up an extra 3 miles per gallon on the way home.

Here's a video of the dyno run, if anyone's interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eehq-jDnpg

Nice numbers. It's key to have a conservative tune for roadrace. Which events are you planing on attending in south florida? Ill be at The Homestead Raceway this weekend with my Evo. You should stop by and check it out.
