I seem to be getting compressor surge at low throttle, low RPMs. It sounds like an extended Blow-off valve flutter and lasts for a few seconds after letting off the throttle. The tuner said it's normal and i should drive in higher RPMs. Just getting other opinions

Is this a problem? or simply something to live with when you go big turbo

can you provide some more details as to the problem your facing? like how exactly you go about producing it, more specific conditions, etc.

had a similar issue on my STi.. but the vacuum hose was loose

I was told it can be a common issue though, and that not being in boost it will not cause any damage to the turbo

Well basically I was driving it home from tuner and around two thousand rpm in fourth of
Fifth with partial throttle would make a extended blow off sound I say it's extended because the sound lasts longer than a blow off and sounds quieter. When I'm at high rpm and do a pull it doesn't have the same sound I'm just worried about damaging my 2800$ turbo sorry if im bad at explaining I'm posting through the iphone

Does the car buck at all? It sounds fishey to me. Many times tuners forget about the driveability and only tune wot pulls.

I had the same problem in fifth gear when I was on stock ecu and stock bov with a GT35R. I found it to be the bov, ended trying the aps and the forge. The forge worked best but still wasn't perfect. Now I'm on a Tial and AEM and no more issues.

So aem standalone and a tial or forge should fix this problem? Am I hurting my turbo right now?

Changing the bov helped a lot. You should try the Forge RS bov that worked best for me and it might fix your problem. I still have the aps and the forge, if you were closer I would let you try them to see if they fix your problem before you order a new bov.

Yeah I could get more but Ivey is a very good tuner and doesn't push it past it's limits unless you specifically ask for it. I'm going to eventually build my motor to get more power.

And Sean I will give you a call today. Thank you for always being so helpful

I just ordered the COBB Tuning XLE BPV to see if it would calm the fluttering down.. But i talked to ivey it it pretty much happens on all evos with high horsepower.. Its not sure its flutter dump.

Thanks again to Ivey for always being so helpful

Depends on the turbo combo doesn't happen on every evo.
Some turbos are more likely to surge than others.
