Lukasz' 527whp 2.0L 5858 2008 GSR
Lukasz brought his wounded 2008 GSR to us all the way from Edmonton Alberta to get it fixed. He knew that a meth malfunction had caused some issues but wasnt 100% sure exactlly what or how bad. When we tore the motor down we found this-
It was obvious we needed to go back through it and fix what was wrong. In addition to our shortblock we had the other parts to work with but needed to delete the malfunctioning Meth injection kit.
ER 2.0L stock sleeve motor
Wiseco/K1 rods and pistons
GSC valvesprings and Ti retainers
Fuel Injector Clinic 1100cc injectors
ETS T3 kit Precision 5858 vband housing / 0.64 A/r
ETS 3.5" Big MAF
Tomei ti exhaust (single)
Ams testpipe
Ams fuel rail
Agp fmic
Comp clutch
Walbro 255
Kozmic catch can
Fuelab fpr
The car had been previously tuned, seemingly very well, but since it had been tuned for meth prior that required a fairly large change. Getting it on the dyno after break in I wasnt quite sure what to expect with the 5858 on a X. Setting the WGDC to 0 and running just wastegate line I was pleasantly surprised-
A little bit of cleanup to the AFR and dropping some timing down low for a quick check -
Then it was a matter of turning it up-
21psi
23.5psi
26psi
All in all, a way better turbo than the 6262 on the X for the street. I have yet to do a twin scroll 6466 on a completely stock ECU but that might be an option for a higher powered fast spooling street turbo. The Garrett side has the standard 35R but I would really like to get some twin scroll Forced Performance 35s on a X for some more testing.
I have seen this turbo on some 2.0L DSM stuff back in the day do really well until about 30psi so for a pump meth car or low boost E85 car this could be a really good option between the 30R and the 35R.

Sorry I forgot to post that, this was Husky 94 octane which is Canadian only as far as I know. The car had a full tank when it got here to make sure it got tuned on what he could get at the pump. Historically canadian 94 has been about like Cali 91, but this stuff definitely tuned better than our 92 based on knock voltage. I realise its not as close with the chain in comparison to a 4G63 but its still a reference point I use.
I also did a timing sweep and racegas test so I know my numbers are good (knock free) but I wont go so far as to say conservative. This was 17* out the top.

Maybe a little but not much. I dont like pushing Xs on straight pumpgas and the most I have done with a 5858 prior to this was 483 on pumpgas. I feel that the power is pretty good for the boost level. While its apples to oranges as far as vehicles (the other was a 4G63) the turbo seemed maxed at 30psi and 601whp so this making 527 on just pump seems pretty good. Better than all the 35R cars I have done but then again they were all stock cam cars.
