401whp/327wtq - 2013 GSR with MHI + bolt ons

401whp/327wtq on 92 octane. I never had the car dyno'd when it was stock, but I have included a previous run when the car had "minor" mods. Keep in mind that these runs were done at different locations (same Dynojet models I believe) and months apart. All tuning on the car has been done by English Racing.

Run #4 mods:
Stock turbo
Mil.Spec 100 cell HFC
Cosworth drop in (stock airbox)
Grimmspeed 3 port

Dyno'd at Drift Office (Auburn, WA)

Run #5 mods:
MHI 18k (ported)
Mil.Spec 100 cell HFC
Cosworth drop in (stock airbox)
COBB 3" turbo inlet
FIC 900cc injectors
ETS recirc DP
Perrin CBE
Depo UICP
Depo 4" IC

Dyno'd at English Racing (Camas, WA)

The next step is likely removing the HFC in favor of a test pipe and possibly also adding an intake. The car feels good the way it is now. I miss some of the lower RPM torque that I had before, but I guess that is something worth giving up in exchange for the car pulling hard all the way to redline now.

Nice numbers, this will probably be my next upgrade. How does it feel compared to stock.

Stock felt really flat once you got past that initial surge in the 3-4.5k RPM range. This setup pulls all the way to redline.

Awesome turbo!!! Have the same set up plus cams. Made 401 hp 357 tq on mustang dyno with 91 oct. Gotta go to English soon and see what difference is on dyno jet running 92 oct .

Very nice... I am still undecided between this and EF2.5 though

Which Mustang dyno did you get your numbers on?

I think Baka has a MHI/EF3 dyno comparison over on the other forum if you haven't seen it. It is in his "spoolapalooza" thread. MHI is very close to the EF3 on the two cars he tuned. MHI was barely over the EF3 in terms of numbers up until about 5300 RPM when the EF3 barely took the lead.

the difference is going to be how it pulls though. the mhi might make more power, but the ef3 can do 26 psi to redline and not drop down where the mhi has to. and it is very possible to get an ef3 to spool as quick as the mhi and keep flat torque and boost all the way to redline. just need to spend more money on fueling. if your interested im selling my blaqops wally 255 kit as well. has everything you need to run an mhi and ef2.5 on e85!

This is what I was referring to. Solid lines are the MHI, dashed lines for the EF3. Both on E85.

Ef3 looks like more power and faster spool on that graph

How do you figure - between 2500 and 3600 the MHI up to ~+50 tq on the EF3? HP a little less. Both hold over the EF3 until about 5900 rpm at which point the EF3 barely surpasses the MHI. In terms of area under the curve, the MHI appears to be ahead - more area where the solid line is above the dotted line than vice versa.

Obviously a ton of other variables at play. The reality is driver skill would make the difference of which turbo 'kills' the other much more so than which turbo was installed given the very similar performance.

Yeah, both are great turbos for sure (as well as the EF2.5).
