Anyone have the JDM double-din headunit kit? Metra kit sucks!

Just wondering if anyone has the JDM install kit? My Metra install kit has too many gaps and doesn't sit flush, and it makes my interior look more cheap than it already is! If anyone has the JDM kit, post up some pics! Thanks.

Mine is scheduled to arrive around the 25th of July. I'll post pics once it's it. I can't wait to get rid of this Metra piece of junk!

Why are you using the JDM version as opposed to the US?

Im going to be getting the pioneer avic-f nav screen and was planning on getting the US double din kit. Is the JDM better for any reason?

I have the same opinion about the dash kit....mine warped being out in the sun. Could someone post a link to the JDM dash kit? Is it the double din? Thanks

JDM one is recessed and made specifically to accommodate aftermarket double din head-units:

Meanwhile, the USDM one is made specifically to accommodate the OEM MMCS Navigation system which is much wider than standard double-din:

Does anyone know if the JDM dash kit fits with no problem, even though its right-hand drive? The shape of the kit looks like it wouldn't really be a problem, but I didn't know if it was direct pop-in or if something needed to be modified?

I'm probably going to order the JDM kit from japanparts.com because my ****ty metra kit is pissing me off. The double-din headunit is too heavy for the kit, because metra had to design it so the headunit's weight was all on the plastic. And the fitment is horrible! (Yes I installed it 100% correct).

Hopefully the JDM kit allows the headunit to be mounted to brackets inside the dash, and than the faceplate pops over top of it. That would be perfect!

Honestly I think you'll be fine. The system faces forward with no slight angles facing the driver (LHD or RHD)...which some systems back in the day used to. It should be a direct fit. Japanparts may also mention if its specific or not......

is there a reason you used the metra instead of the JDM one?

x2. Please explain! I'm not sure what advantage the metra kit has over the JDM kit.

Here is my aftermarket double din in the USDM kit. Looks like shiat. I'm not certain the Metra kit will be that much better. Is JDM the way to go?
