what is the best in-dash navi system?

I just bought a Kenwood DNX 7140. It gets installed tuesday along with a whole new system

I've read as far as navigation goes kenwood is the best. Simply because it's a garmin unit. I know NOTHING about navigation units as all I've ever used was the stock one. But I do know one thing, I bought a 2009 model, and I have already found the 2010 map updates which is normally $150. So I'll be able to update to the newest maps, can you do that on the other units? I heard alpine blew the ability to do that.
