AVIC-D3 and Aftermarket Amp
This is more of a "show & shine" thread, but I just wanted to post some specs/pics of my new setup.
The deck is the AVIC-D3 Nav from Pioneer. Had it just sitting in the garage from a previous car. I used the Scoche (sp) dash kit and metra wiring harness. I have the Pioneer sirius adapter, generic ebay back up camera, and the ipod cord also. May do the BT in the future, but I'm not really in the car enough to use the BT that much. I'm also waiting for the PAC steering wheel control adptr to come in the mail so I can use my factory steering wheel controls on the pioneer.
The amp I chose was a Rockford P450.4. Mostly chose this amp because I got a great deal on it, and I don't have too much $.
I wired all 6 (front woofer and tweeter, and rear midrange) to the front channels (about 2.8 ohms IIRC). The factory sub is DVC and even wired in series its also around 2.8 ohms. It's bridged on the rear channels even though the min to bridge is 4ohms. So I have the gain pretty low. I plan on upgrading the sub very soon to a rockford Punch P3SD210 10" shallow. This way I can bridge it at 4 ohms and it should handle a little more power than the factory sub.
Amp is installed under the drivers seat (barely fit! it's a big amp). And with the battery in the trunk, it's a super easy install for the amp wires. I plan on upgrading the speakers sometime also, but until I have more $ to spend, the stockers work fine with the extra power they are getting from the amp.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the setup. I have to find a couple rattles underneath the car since the sub works a little better now.
Feel free to ask any questions, and here's some pics:

No fitment issues on the dash kit, on the very top, it maybe curves up a little bit, like on top of the dash, but not too bad at all. I used the double din trim ring around the face of the deck so there were no gaps there either. For the price (about $25 instead of 200 for JDM kit) I'm very happy.
And to update, I guess brigding the rear channels of the amp (at about 2.8 ohms) was a little too much power for the factory sub, cause I blew it in about a week. Now I'm going to order a rockford P3 shallow sub and run it bridged at 4 ohms. Need new speakers too, it's a never ending process, lol.
Installed my PAC-SWIPS steering wheel controler that finally came in the mail - easy as pie and works great.
I don't know how some of the guys on here were getting the nav to work correctly with the nav antenna under the dash, I had to put mine up on top of the dash.
I also put some different LED's in that shine down on the center console, I'll try to get some night pics later tonight.

Wow... I actually have almost the same setup, minus the factory sub. Anyone know the RMS rating on the factory sub? I know RMS bridged is 225 watts for that amp, and at 2.8 ohms bridged, that's a heck of a lot of power to be pushing to factory stuff.
Also, have you thought about getting a separate amp for the sub? I personally like an all 4 speaker amp'd sound + dedicated sub. I love my setup and couldn't be happier. Then again you're talking extra money.
I'll have to keep the scosche kit in mind when doing the newer lancers/evos it definitely looks legit. A lot better than the Metra version.

Yeah, 2.8 ohms was probably a little much for both the amp, and definetly the sub. RMS for factory sub, I have no idea, but I would guess 25-50watts.
Yeah, I have def thought of getting a mono or 2 ch for the sub, just don't have the money right now. Will probably upgrade everything in the future. I'm probably more interested in the performace than the stereo in this car, so the upgrades may come slowly.

Kind of, you just have to take off the little yellow clip thing. And have your aftermarket sirius aptr really close to the stock one (not too much extra length on there).
