Looks to me that the RCA ends would still have to come "out" of the dash somewhere (assuming you connect the 12v/ground behind the dash) and plug into the factory AUX input (in the little cubby).
What I'm trying to say is the factory deck (or aftermarket) would not be able to control the Ipod, it will only charge it, and aux input of course.

Yeah its not on the back of the oem deck. You might try to do a search on this and see what you can find. Most systems (even the base *I think*) has the aux audio input below the stereo in the little cubby hole below your A/C controls. Its in the back and covered by a little plastic cover.
Try a search though, I'm sure someone has posted some pics of it.

The OEM one, is it 1-1/2" jack or a standard iPod connector? If it's a jack, that's such a rip off, with it being like $40 new.

Yup, its just a standard headphone plug. And you can make one yourself for a couple bucks. Only thing I notice though, is you get a bunch of noise, so you would need some sort of filter to soften the engine noise through the stereo.

I bought a monster iCable the other day for $7.00. It's shielded supposedly.

Give that a shot.
