Some details

Sorry about the iPhone pics. Camera is charging for Halloween pics of my daughter and her friends.

Here are where I put the external sensors:

This display along with voice alerts is how you are notified of a threat (Radar, Laser, known Speed Trap, redlight camera, stationary monitoring station, etc...):

I fit the interface into a button blank and elongated the hole:

I still haven't decided if I'll do the full write up, but this should help a bit.

Looking good. Get some better pics when you have a chance. Is there any on the rear of the car?

dude no offense but those cobra radar detectors are almost completely useless. an entry level bell or escort are that much more expensive and perform miles ahead. (I'll spare u my roommates explanation as to why and all the science behind it, he is a radar detection nut lol)

to OP: nice choice with the escort but why did u install the shifter on the front license plate?

I figured I'd get a couple of question as to why I gave up rear laser protection for additional frontal coverage. Enforcers are trained to target the vehicle in this order:

1. Front License Plate
2. Head Lights

Given the offset nature of our license plate (not to mention silver intercooler), I thought that additional protection may be necessary to jam the gun. LED based jammers aren't as effective as their laser diode counterparts so I wanted to mitigate chances of a punch through.

Plus rear laser attacks are much more rare.

Very true. I don't have a front lic plate, so I'm already ahead of the game!

i thought that was what u were going for but why not invest in buying veil cause u can do ur plate and ur headlights which will also be a big target

You're right of course, that would help bump up effectiveness. Unfortunately, passive counter measures are just as illegal as active jammers. I think I could get away with Veil G4 on my headlights, but the plate would be obvious. I'm also not too excited about reducing the light output of the headlights. In the end I'd be best served with Laser Interceptor up front and the shifters on the rear. I have a group buy for the LI here.

I had no idea about the V1 being detected. That is crazy! Nice setup, OP! I didn't realize these were as low as $1000 on ebay. I might have to jump in at some point.

That's cheap. I'll have to look into that too. Definitely worth it.

$1600 is like... more than all the speeding tickets I've ever had in my life combined.

You'd probably just be better of speeding, and hiring a good lawyer for the 4 or 5 times you get caught.

Sorry I didn't see this question lwhen I visited the post. I did the install myself so I'm not sure what it would cost. That said it is worth paying for if you don't enjoy messing around with the car. This took me a full day to complete. There is lots of test fitting and filing and dremeling involved.

My question is: Does it really work? Do the laser shifters really do what they're supposed to do?

Also, Escort's web site says:

Completely undetectable to all Detector Detector Scanners

Check youtube and search user Pmoth81. You will see how well they work. Laser Interceptor is the best performing "laser/lidar" jammer albeit with one of the highest equipment failure rates.

If you can do the install yourself, then its not a problem because the manufacturers warranty on this item is second to none.

If you can not perform the install yourself and are looking for a standalone jammer to compliment your radar detector, I would recommend the new Blinder xtreme M27 for a small sedan or M47 for an SUV or truck. It is easily the best LED jammer available.

If you are looking for a stealth all-in-one install (for VA or Canada residents) I would purchase and install a Bel STi-R with Zr4 combo. This is of course assuming you can still find the STi-R because they have been discontinued. The Zr4 shifter system integrates with the most Bel and Escort radar units and is included as part of the 9500ci package.

Just to reiterate, we are talking about "laser/lidar" jamming and "not radar jamming!" Radar jamming is very illegal and carries massive fines as well as jail time.

Quick Reply: Anyone install a Escort 9500ci yet?
