Replacing Factory SSS Hids?
Ive tried looking and couldnt really find specifically what im looking for. Basically I just got a new 2015 Evo with the factory HIDs.. I dont really like how they are 4300k and yellow, I wanna go with a 5k/6k look. Im just wondering, is it possible to use the oem ballasts and wiring, and literally just change the oem hid bulb to a new one? If so, does anyone know the type of bulb our HIDs are, and the wattage? I believe I read somewhere they are D2S but I just wanna make sure. Thanks for the help guys

They're 35 watt D2S @ 4300k. I also plan on going the 5k-6k color once mine go bad. Just remember the higher the color temperature, the less bright it'll be. All you need to do is change the D2S bulb, the ballast doesn't have to be changed. But I highly recommend you get a legit bulb and not a Chinese knockoff. Also, It makes it a lot easier if you take the bumper off and remove the headlight assembly, you can see what you're doing.
I've changed a buddies bulbs in his X so if you have any other questions I'll happily help.

^^what he said. Look for a Sylvania bulb or similar. There are a lot of generic Chinese bulbs and knock offs so if the price is too good to be true......
The factory bulb is geared towards the most visible light. Anything else will be a compromise for appearances. If you live in deer territory, you may regret changing them.....

I just replaced my HIDs last week cause my RH side went out. Had them for the last 4 years and I also read that they dim over time. I orginally was going to get some philips 4800k but they run about $175 a set. And since I plan on retroing new projectors I figured I'd wait.
I got some replacements from Diode Dynamics, 5000k (4800k) for $40 a pair. Though the manufacturer of the bulbs is CNLight from singapore, the warranty from Diode, customer service and the price sold me for a temp solution while I wait to open up my headlights.
The lights are great, bright as expected and a bit whiter than 4300k. I think I'm just going to run these until they die and save the philips for later. As everyone already stated you have the specs and splattj is correct so careful who you get from. Good luck.

Thank you guys, swapped them out without taking the bumper off, fairly easy when you remove the fuse box and the reservoir. Thanks fellas.

New to the EVO's but not to HID's.
Have replaced and upgraded on several cars including Gen 2 MR2, 2000 Civic Si, 2004 RSX S, Volvo S60R.
Have had great luck with http://www.retro-solutions.com/
They do everything from bulbs/parts to full custom retro builds.
