While I wholeheartedly agree with the above statements, tuning is tuning. Numbers and some patience and you can get stuff out of it. Maybe I am somewhat biased but I dont think tuning is all that hard...just takes some time. I cant wait to get my hands on a X. Keeping my fingers crossed but maybe next week.

Are you serious? I would take a new GTR over an Evo any day with my eyes closed!

I wholly agree with you John. I get the X on Thursday, we should hook up. I am waiting to play with the new CAN bus stuff and see whats happening there.

Well if your'e going to get technical it is distance measured at a certain speed.
Anyways I think the ECUs and cars are getting too advanced nowadays. It seems as if it gets easier and easier to f*** something up.

Actually the Timing/Fuel/Knock system in the ECU on the Evo 8/9 makes it almost bulletproof.

There are plenty of blown up Evo IX motors. Even from vendor/tuners on this very forum.

......Wow, that isn't exactly what I wanted to hear.

I'd hope that only qualified individuals are touching my car.

LOL regardless of whether it's a simple cat-back or fully built race setup, there is always a risk of something messing up when you modify a car. The risk generally goes up the more power you want to make...and even when the most qualified people are putting on the best quality parts, things still go wrong sometimes...that's just the way it goes...

A tune can be perfect and still fail due to fatigue, the unexpected, failure of supporting parts (i.e. fuel pump or boost controller), sand, small children, etc.

Heck as far as that goes even a stock untuned unmodded car can have unexpected failures.
