Gruppe-s / ProDrive / Pierburg 3 port boost solenoid
Quick little how-to for the Evo 10:
For the Evo X, you're going to need to grind down one notch of the pigtail supplied in order for it to fit into the factory harness because the factory harness has the notch on the opposite end. (not a problem on the Evo 8/9)
An idea of where to mount it, mount the 3-port on the vehicle by removing the 10mm mounting bolt from the factory solenoids and using the same bolt to mount the 3-port right behind the factory solenoid.
Plug it into the brown BCS connector:
And how to run the lines: (straight vac lines, no pills, no T's)
Remember to tune your boost tables as the car will now overboost with the same settings!

im curious... will boost still taper to 18psi @ redline? i know you can control the boost better.. is the stock turbo still the limiting factor? has anyone tried porting the hotside of the turbo and exhast mani..? ived read cases where boost is held better.. but on evo 8/9...
thanks in advance..
the dramatic drop in boost really sucks *** =/

Without a compressor chart no one knows how much boost the X turbo can handle. All we know that it is smaller than the Evo 9 turbo on the cold side and the same size on the hotside. Most people run their 9 turbo to about 21 psi by redline on pump gas.
I e-mailed a Garrett turbo engineer and he suspects that the limits of the stock trubo is ~42 lbs/min. I have run the Evo Xs that I have tuned to a max of 38 lb/min.
I wish I can find a compressor map for this turbo. All the available ones are for the Evo 8 turbo.

Just like we have pushed the 8/9 turbo to the limit to find any possible gains (or lack of), we will be doing the same with the 10 turbo as well, and of course posting data about it.

We've run them up to 41-42 lbs/min so far with stock actuator and stock BCS.

so next time we quote whp .. we're talking referencing similiar stuff ..
I'm getting similiar results as you

3 port setup means you can run interrupt mode.
the stock setup is a bleed setup.
bleed setup sux because you are bleeding air of the wastegate, which means there is always SOME pressure hitting the wastegate...
interrupt means you can control exactly what pressure hits the wastegate, which means you can keep it closed for as long as possible...

I'm guesting that you would have to retune the car.
would you also do the pill mod as Cobb saids to do when going to stage 2? Does Cobb have maps to use this boost control?
sorry for the newbe questions but trying to figure out how to make the boost come in fast and hard. vs being very linear.

Yeah I am debating whether to keep the stock 2 port or to switch to the 3 port even with stock turbo and bolt on's. I would think you would control the boost more precisely maybe gain a couple of whp.
