Tune without adjusting boost levels?
I am interested in having my X tuned, but I do not want to touch my boost levels. Is it even worth it? Reason behind this is I don't want to blow my motor. I want to give the X a little more time on the market. People have been blowing motors when adjusting boost levels without a tune, and I would like to be sure that it is because they don't have a tune, and not that a tune is just delaying the inevitable.

changing the boost would help a lot. there is a reason why all tuner do it.. n u will not blow ur motor people run 26+ PSI on a stock motor ur fine or 24 or a stock turbo.. ur safe to do it all in the tune.. if u have a good tuner u have nothing to worry about..

I don't know why you wouldn't change your boost levels? That is one of the main reasons people get a tune, so they can crank the boost safely! I wouldn't take what you see posted on here as gold. Always question what you read. Ok, so there was a blown motor, I am actually surprised we haven't seen MORE of that going on. If there was really a problem with boost levels we would see a TON more issues with blown motors. There alot of people that are tuned with high boost levels, some that have run race gas at really high boost levels, and they all seem to be fine. If there was a problem, you would know of it.... I wouldn't take one post and make it an epidemic...
I can't wait until I get tuned so they can up the boost. The drop off in high rpm's is killing me! It's going to make a world of difference.

People also blow motors by putting mods on and leving the car untuned. Upping the boost a little is not going to Put anywhere near enough stress on the motor to blow it up. Have Jestr tune the car, I'm not sure which local shop you have, but chances are they don't know how to tune a x, there are few people that actually know the x. And do not get sucked into the ttp dyno number advertising

It is possible to tune your car without adjusting boost levels. However, this is normally done because the car will compete in a certain race class that disallows increasing boost pressure. More power can be had by adjusting fueling and torque levels, but without increasing airflow into the engine, i.e. boost, power production will be limited.
There is no inherent danger to increasing boost levels if this increase is accompanied by proper tuning.
For instance, all the maps that can be downloaded for the COBB AccessPORT have increases in boost pressure, but these maps also adjust fueling and timing parameters. Tuning is not a cure-all, however, as proper tuning strategies must be employed to manage cylinder pressure and heat to avoid detonation.
The best first step is to locate a reputable tuner that is local to you and then discuss your goals, budget and an engine managment platform, then devise a course of action based on those three factors. There are also many off the shelf tuning solutions that will give you more power and be safe as well.

My x is getting tuned (EcuTek) next week and they only increase boost by 1PSI! Gains? well 20% power increase and 24% torque.
Funny thing when i mentioned about guys in US having boost around 24psi with 18psi by redline he didn't believe me.
