In phoenix you're stuck with 91 E10 (10% ethanol) year round, so its really a matter of finding who has the less crappy 91. Guys here will pretty much only use chevron or shell. I only used chevron when I was on 91.

Did you guys see the special they had on ABC about gas prices and such. Part of it the guy from ABC was at a CITGO I believe station where the gas trucks were getting gas. Turns out that the manager of that station said we get thousands of trucks daily that deliver gas to many stations. So that was kind of interesting how BP,Mobil,Shell,Chevron ect all gas up at the same station.

I gotta find the link maybe it's online also

here is the article and towards the bottom it states

(“Maybe everyone knows this but all gasoline is virtually identical and comes from the same refineries. The only slight differences are additives such as detergent.
I saw this on tv. The differences are so miniscule that it really doesn't matter. Most times when you get "bad" gas its because the station tank is getting low and your getting older dirtier gas so off course its going to be crap.

I've heard that Shell and Valero have their own refinaries. While all the other brands get thier gas from the same place. FWIW I use shell.

Shell 93 Oct, sometimes i go for BP 93 Oct.

i use either one of them only because of they're advertised as the "cleanest". i've used these fuels since i got the car and there's carbon soot in exhaust tips even with a tune.

i've noticed that i get a bit better mileage with shell.

for my boosted Z, I used to ping on Shell 91 CA gas in the summer, i think they use some additive for better summer emissions, or something, but it wasnt a true 91 rating..

then i switched to Mobil or Chevron or 76.. Never had a problem with either of these three, in anytime during the year...

For my Evo, I've been only using Mobil or Chevron...

I would agree with you Garrett, up until just a few months ago. Shell started to add nitrogen into their gas and ever since, my car has not liked it at all. That used to be the only place i went to fill up. Now its Sonoco 93 for me.

Shell exclusively in SoCal. With my TBSS and X GSR, I would always see knocking sums when logging either vehicle with Mobil in the tank. Seeing some folks in California are posting positive comments for 76; I'll try that next time.
