cobb ap or exhaust first?

AP is more power, and safer than exhaust mods without a tune. If you get the AP, you can follow its mod list for stage 2 and get nice power, with proven safe tunes, without having to pay for a tune until you go beyond what stage 2 delivers.

COBB AP IS THE WAY TO GO BEFORE MUFFLER ,YOU WILL HAVE MORE GAINS WITH ACCESSPORT, I LIKE IT MORE THAN OPENSOURCE BECAUSE WHEN YOUR DONE TUNING YOU HAVE A USEFUL TOOL (ACCESSPORT) THAT YOU CAN USE FOR DATALOGGING ,SCANNING , ETC

my friend had a cobb access port on his evo and really liked it..... then he wanted to see what a street tune would do for him. he was tuned by richard out at evolutiondynamics. he liked the street tune better and sold the access port. I have nothing against cobb as their products are good. He was much happier with a road tune, not saying that will be the case for you, just wanted to show you that not EVERYONE feels like darthvader here about access ports, they are great, but its all about personal preference.

Stage 1: Cobb AP and nothing else
Stage 2: Cobb AP and Turbo/Back exhaust
Don't get creative, inventive or tempted to add things you don't need.
And don't waste your money on an intake - with the AP or any other tune you negate the effects of the intake.

i came from a stage 2 wrx which was loud as hell, so i couldn't stand how quiet the stock evo x was, so i did exhaust first (buscher racing) and then did the accessport (running various tunes cobb, perrin)
to each their own i suppose.

tuning
stw hollywood you are right it is about preference when you opensource tune you can expect to pay about $350 to $400 cobb is $695 when you go to next performance stage you pay opensource tune again with cobb you simply reflash when tuning is done with open source you have nothing in your hands when go with cobb , you have scanner , dyno chart ,0 to 60 ,1/4 mile, anti theft, multimaps ,and free software , etc to fully tune or tweak your map if you are so inclined
