Evc boost controller: Boost unable to hold

Hi Guys

I am having some problems with my boost controller and the boost pattern at 3/4/5 gears. ( At 1 2 gear, boost curve behaves normal.... no distortion) The distortion will start and last for awhile and then stablize. However if i were to change gear from 2-3 , 3-4 or 4-5 constantly at 6000rpm i will be able to "bypass" this zone. ie car pulls smoothly

But.....

When i am full throttling from 2krpm the boost starts to fluctuate.my boost fluctuate from 1.6-1.4 bar( Refer to attached graph) The distortion rpm range is from 2400- 3700rpm. Due to this problem i am having problem to tune my car during that range for more torque and power.....

NOte: Attached boost curve is done on dyno at 4 gear. I also tried on the road and this phenomenon can be simulated....

Please advise on whether i can "fine" tune this problem.
Setup:
EVC VI ( NON EVO X VERSION) RPM n throttle sensor tapped
HKS intercooler piping
HKS racing suction reloaded
JIC EXOS
ECU Reflashed

EVO X GSR JDM Version

That looks like compressor surge or some error correction stepping in on the EVC.

increase back pressure; or if all stock TBE, remove the mods for the intake. Seems to be a 'problem' commonly.

Did you do a custom tune after the bolt on mods? The bolt on I did has the same effect.

Another suggestion, downshift. The car bone stock wasn't a dream at 2k rpm and applying increase throttle. With the mod, as long as I keep it WOT, it avoids the problem. Trying to gently increase torque at low rpms is NOT what she likes. Either WOT, or a gear that runs around 3k. (imHo)

I re-read the post, my apologies about the question of when you tuned.

Since you're having problems with the general issue, you probably want to pull one or both of the exhaust/intake mods and replace with stock. When you say you're trying to 'tune', aren't you using the ROM maps or are you using an alternative method? If you're all DIY without an expert on your particular mods to converse with, he'd be a good friend to find.

What is your warning boost and drop boost set at? If you are hitting the "warning boost" level, then it will drop the boost by the specified "drop boost" amount, i.e. error correction as GST mentioned.

did you use the small filter supplied (to be installed in the vacum/boost line just before the evc solinoid) with the boost controller?

i have installed and tuned more than 10 of these boost controllers on EVO X, and can tell you that most of it depends on the initial settings.

try the following:

- lower the offset value and log.
- reset the EVC and do the initial settings correctly. remeber to select S for swing type actuator.

the upgraded actuator will not help in this case from my experince.
