97 Octane?

I'm a little noob into tuning stuff.. actually I just bought my first Evo X a month ago..
The thing is, I'm from Qatar, and here the pump gas is 97 Octane (I believe it's a good thing right?).
I would love to get a Cobb AP but there aren't any maps for 97 Octane I suppose. What shall I do? Can I do a mail-in tune? thanks in advance.

97 RON is somewhere near 92 octane or so in the US readings, so you should use the 91 octane maps if they are available for you car.

Isn't 95 RON=90-91 MON & 97/98 RON= 93/94 MON?? This system confuses me!
Would it be a big mistake if you use a 93 octane tables on your car then fill it with 91?

This should help you a bit.

And yes, using 93 oct maps and filling with 91 will have catastrophic results. If not right away - in due time.

Thanks bro. So basically 97 RON in Qatar is the same as 93 in the US? time to get a tune

Why would I use 91oct maps while I usually fill up with 93oct?

You should try the 91 first, make sure that one does not knock. Then if it is ok, then you can try the 93 to see if that one runs ok.

See, if the 91 map doesn't work, the 93 map will not be good at all to your car. You are using different gas than we do, so Tephra is making sure you are safe.

because 93oct in one country is not the same as 93oct from another country.

so it's best to start safe and then work your way up...

Of course he knows better, I've just never ever filled any of my cars with less than 97 oct RON(93 oct in the US). Toxin says I should't run 93 maps with 91 gas, and from my understanding to your post, it's safe to run 91 maps with 93 gas?

And yea, how would I know if this is the right map for me? either way I'll have more power than the stock maps... is it easy to notice the difference between 91 and 93 maps?

Thanks everyone

There are many good tuners in UAE. If AP didn't work, I think I'll be going there.
