Thanks tephra! I hope I will never need to do this Just one dumb question. After connecting the ECU to OBD pins, is that the only connection from OP2.0 cable to the ECU? Or do you also try to plug the cable in? I'm not even sure that's possible...

After you run your pins fron the ob2 - ecu and have the power wires hooked up to a 12V source. All you need to do is plug your OB2 into your laptop and flash. You will flash once in Alt, followed by unchecking the Alt flash then just do a normal flash. unplug all your wire and plug it back into your car.Its really easy after the 3-5 time.

Sorry for the wait, I was just posting from my phone. Check this out I was reading last night in the Mitsubishi service manual that when installing a ecu you should place the key in the ignition and wait 10 sec. So this morning at work i re-flashed the ecu which was fine. So i stuck the ecu back in, then i put the key in and waited 10 sec. Then I turn it to where the power come one. I gave that an additional 10 sec, this time the fan didn't come on and it started. So I let it idle for 15 Mins the turned it off. Then did that again. I then flashed my map with the 15% Increase air scaling. It read fine this time. I had the check engine light came on after it started the fist time. I am going to get it read tomorrow. Somethings up with my #1 coil, cylinder 1 is not firing. I will trouble shoot this week.

Does this method also work if your fans aren't spinning? I'm not bricked but I definitely locked my self out as I can't read or write anymore. Car run's fine but after writing my stock rom back I'm locked out. Would benching my ECU place it in programming mode so I can flash again? I've tried a different laptop already, reinstalling, etc. Thanks!

just wanted to say thank you tephra for having this up, I had made a mistake trying to edit 56890013 with a definition file that was jacked up. Long story short, was able to use the bench method and flash to 56890009. So am now logging properly and hopefully getting e-tuned soon ;D
